Buried a thousand feet below the 24-team
playoff discussion is the core question for any sport: Is a single elimination tournament the best way to determine who the best team actually is?
Any serious sports fan knows that the answer is no. It’s why sports like hockey, baseball and basketball all opt for 7 game series deep in their playoffs. Football cannot adopt such a practice because of the wear and tear element, which everyone understands and accepts. But if you’re going to accept a single elimination format, you have to provide top performing teams with real rewards. The idea that a 3-loss team can get hot in a playoff and knock off an undefeated 15-0 team by 1 and strut around as the undisputed champ is a shitty price to pay for more “access.”
The BCS/4-Team playoff at least gave us uber accomplished teams in every semi-final/title game. If the sport wants to avoid the regular season becoming meaningless it HAS to provide massive advantages to the very top teams. Byes, Homefield Advantage to the title game, reseeded opponents ensuring the top teams have an easier road. Otherwise it makes no difference what you do to make the playoff, undefeated or three losses, as long as you get hot and beat teams on neutral fields in January. At that point, the meaning of the regular season, as it relates to determining the best team, is diminished so much we have a CBB situation on our hands where 90% of fans only care about the postseason.

Having played Aronimink a couple of times, I know it favours the big hitter. But like Augusta the 2nd shot is as important, perhaps even more. With that in mind who are your top 3 picks?
Mine:
Scottie Scheffler
Cam Young
Jon Rahm

Not yet attended the Masters…by choice. Will at some point, but only after first playing Augusta National.
Nothing wrong with a merch purchase, however would tend to agree with this post.

The 4th hole at Lane Creek Golf Club is a 312 yard par 4.
Green protected by a small pond that runs up to the putting surface.
Trying to drive the green brings the pond into play on the left and OB on the right.
Laying up leaves a daunting wedge shot to a very narrow green!
