@Fullcarry The wealthy can take loans and sell unrealized gains as collateral. That's the main issue being targeted. Anybody arguing against that tax is either affected by it or thinks it's a slippery slope that'll target their next egg of 100k someday. And they're likely wrong.

Maybe taxing unrealized CG is unworkable but it is still true that the truly wealthy pay a much lower effective tax rate than the rest of us. What is the solution?
