🪑This manual retractable seating system is a neat example of adaptive spatial design. The tiers fold back by hand without any motors, opening up the hall or gym for completely different uses in seconds. A clean, efficient mechanism that turns fixed seating into a flexible, multifunctional layout, simple engineering with a big architectural payoff.

🌿 Rooted in the landscape of Jalisco, the campus uses volcanic stone, locally sourced materials, and contemporary Mexican architecture to celebrate artisanal craftsmanship while restoring the surrounding environment. Together, the buildings create an immersive destination that connects architecture, culture, and the tradition of tequila making.

La Hacienda is a 22-hectare campus created for Clase Azul that brings together tequila production, ceramic workshops, hospitality, and cultural experiences within a unified architectural vision. Originally launched as a design competition, the project evolved into a collaboration between Atelier ARS, Elías Rizo Arquitectos, Estudio Macías Peredo, Tacher Arquitectos, and Huber Design Studio, with each studio designing a different part of the complex.

The School reimagines education in a high-density urban environment through a terraced design that extends learning beyond the classroom. Large public platforms, rooftop gardens, and six open courtyards create shaded outdoor spaces that maximize daylight, natural ventilation, and interaction between students and the city.

The project’s defining feature is its woven steel structure, which supports both the stepped landscape and a lightweight canopy above. Built from a modular system of prefabricated steel components, the structure simplifies construction while creating a porous architectural form that filters daylight, provides shade, and frames views across the garden. By integrating landscape, structure, and circulation into a single spatial system, the project demonstrates how complex geometry can create both environmental performance and meaningful public space.

Instead of treating the site’s significant elevation difference as a constraint, the design introduces a continuous stepped topography that connects residential towers, the clubhouse, and surrounding open spaces through a sequence of terraces, seating areas, and circulation routes.
