Today’s closing ceremonies brought our world another incredible moment from Tom Cruise, one that has us looking back on many before it. No matter the mission, he’s always accepted it. We want to take this opportunity to thank Tom for all that he has done for our industry and art forms as both an actor and a producer. He’s consistently strived for the utmost competence across any and all skills that will better the story and experience for the audience. It’s seen in his array of aviation commercial ratings, and his incredible aerobatic piloting of jets, warbirds, and helicopters—to the fact that he’s one of 34 people in history to be named an honorary US Naval Aviator. The list of expertise only continues—further extending to speed flying, BASE jumping and high-altitude skydiving, all the way to being a certified scuba divemaster and tankless freediver. From motocross, to stunt car driving, to rock climbing, and Les Grossman-inspired dancing—he has consistently dedicated himself to the betterment of cinema and the promise of authenticity and entertainment for audiences around the world. And today, we witnessed him bring the same level of dedication beyond the big screen to the biggest stage. To all the athletes throughout the stadium and beyond, we extend our congratulations and admiration for all that you’ve done. You embody the spirit of excellence and sportsmanship that keep the world riveted and inspired. And Tom, we can’t wait for the world to see what we have in store next summer. See you May 23rd.
