Sadly, a lot of African countries don’t even look after their own interests. That’s the real issue. Washington puts sanctions, tariffs, and restrictions on African nations, yet people still treat them like the good guys no matter what. Meanwhile China expands trade access and offers zero-tariff deals, and somehow that’s the one getting demonized. That contradiction makes no sense to be honest.
media narratives is powerful. A lot of folks just repeat what they’ve been told without questioning anything, even when it clearly goes against Africa’s interests. It’s like some people would rather defend outside powers than actually think about what benefits their own continent.
The United States doesn’t have friends. Europe doesn’t have friends. They act in their own interest, every single time. China does the same thing, but the difference is how those interests show up in Africa. You don’t see China placing the same kind of sanctions, tariffs, or constant political pressure the way the West does.
At some point Africans need to start thinking for themselves and stop blindly following narratives that don’t benefit them. You don’t have to support anyone blindly, but at least be consistent and actually look at what helps Africa instead of repeating the same talking points over and over.
