@LouiseJupe If this wasn’t enough, just as I had sent an email to my tutor, I started to get a dull ache around my pancreas. 2 hours laters and I was on some lovely medicine, has and air, sirens and flashy lights to hospital. Where I spent 16 days with severe #pancreatitis - #agony #phdchat

@LouiseJupe I just wish there had been a sign or a glimmer into his pain. If anybody else has fathers who have died the same way and are 60+, PLEASE get in touch. I would like to collaborate on something aimed at older men - content/format TBD. #phdchat #suicide #MentalHealthMatters

@LouiseJupe One of the hardest, most sudden & confusing aspects was on New Year’s Eve when I had a call to say my dad had taken his own life early that morning. Shock pinned me to my bed for 8hrs. I think we just wish he had left a note as he was the last you would think was in that place.

@LouiseJupe I struggled and remember just being able to walk (muscle wastage) when the first C19 lockdown started. So for me, I felt I was in #lockdown for an unbearable amount of time. The stress all of this caused, contributed to my marriage failing and a completely off the rails 16yo son.

@LouiseJupe It’s been hard. Day surgery ended up being 3 months as my surgeon perforated my pancreas and didn’t know! And couldn’t understand why I was slipping away. I then had a year of tube feeding which was hard enough without tubes in my face. #phdhealth #phdchat @AcademicChatter

Hello PhD Parents. After what feels like forever, I am back. I no longer have a feeding tube but have to be careful as more surgery likely. Slowly easing myself back into work after a long long time off. Starting small. Looking forward to catching up with you all :)

Hi all. I appreciate I have not been on here for some time. Health has improved a lot but... On a serious note, if you have any PT remote work available please do give me a shout. Changes in my home life have now meant I need to bring some income in #phdchat @AcademicChatter

@parent_phd @AcademicChatter I think there are some evidence-based apps that use cognitive behavioral therapy for sleep. Also I know someone who uses a podcast called something like "Sleep with me" that is just interesting enough to listen to and just boring enough to fall asleep to.

Sorry I’ve been absent. My insomnia is the worst it has ever been meaning functioning is difficult. I have tried everything, medical, herbal etc. What works for other insomniacs? I don’t mean those who have a few bad nights, I mean those who struggle for years! @AcademicChatter
