“The National Parent Survey tells me we need change, and parents need to be partners in that change” Bridget Phillipson MP, Secretary of State for Education (@bphillipsonMP), delivers the keynote at the #NationalParentSurvey2025 launch — recognising the crucial role of parent voice in shaping education policy. “Parents should be at the centre of the conversation, as a government we must listen to their voices.” “We are failing on or responsibility to give a good education for every child.” “In recent years, parents have been underrepresented, thank you @parentkind for championing the voice of parents” 👉 Explore the full report at nationalparentsurvey.com #NationalParentSurvey2025 #ParentVoice #Education @AXAHealth @CareerEnt @YourGuinness @ThePiXLNetwork @sarasinpartners

Ofsted has seen a 5% rise in complaints about schools in the past year. Parents can struggle to understand what goes on behind the school gates, and we know that only 42% of parents feel listened to by their child’s school, with 1 in 4 saying there has been a breakdown in trust between them and their child’s teacher. linkedin.com/posts/parentki…

The really insightful Education Policy Institute (EPI) report out today found three quarters of nine-month old babies in England are spending 41 minutes on screens daily. We know that as children get older, these habits continue. Our National Parent Survey tells us that linkedin.com/posts/the-real…

On Monday MPs will have the opportunity to decisively help parents protect their children from harmful online content. They can support amendments to the Children’s Wellbeing and School Bill, which would stop social media companies delivering their content to under 16s, and would make all schools smartphone free. linkedin.com/posts/parentki…

It was great to be involved with the APPG for Parents today, hearing evidence on how the Australian social media ban is starting to tackle the harmful effects of social media on children. linkedin.com/feed/update/ur…

Our CEO Frank Young be at the All Party Parliamentary Group (APPG) for Parents today to hear evidence from how the social media ban for children has worked in Australia. The group will hear from clinical psychologist Dr Danielle Einstein who provided evidence at multiple stages of Australia’s own social media reform process. We will listen closely to Dr Einstein’s findings and report back because we know parents could not be clearer – they want the government to raise the minimum age of social media and introduce legislation that protects their children online. linkedin.com/posts/parentki…

This is a really great campaign by @MumsnetTowers and one we support. They have created cigarette pack style health warnings highlighting the risks social media poses to young people, as well as calling on the Government to ban it for under 16s. linkedin.com/posts/parentki…

We’ve been through Government’s white paper “Every Child Achieving and Thriving” and there are some important areas where parental engagement has been recognised. In particular PTAs held up as a ‘minimum expectation’ for schools is a huge step forward – we’ve been calling for a PTA in every school, so this is really important for parents. linkedin.com/posts/parentki…

Our CEO Frank Young was invited to an early morning roundtable at 10 Downing Street this morning to ensure parents are being heard as the government announces its new education policies. We will be working with the @educationgovuk and the Secretary of State @bphillipsonMP to develop minimum expectations for schools around engagement with parents. This morning Frank told Prime Minister @Keir_Starmer Starmer we needed to do more to build better relationships between home and school. We know from our Parent Friendly Schools accreditation how important it is for schools to work with parents, and we are keen to share our findings and research with the DfE. linkedin.com/posts/parentki…

We are pleased to see the @educationgovuk for Education’s announcement today that schools will be encouraged to engage more with parents. Ahead of the Schools White Paper, Secretary of State @bphillipsonMP said there would be a commitment to develop minimum expectations for schools around engagement with parents. This is excellent news as we know children do better when parents are involved in their child’s education. The Education Endowment Foundation (EEF) showed that good parental engagement can be worth 4 months’ academic progress for children over the course of a year. Our CEO Frank Young said: “Getting parental engagement right is the missing piece of the education jigsaw. “We are especially pleased to see a commitment to develop minimum expectations for how parental engagement. Currently it’s a postcode lottery for parents, with 1 in 4 saying there has been a breakdown of trust between them and teachers at their child’s school. “Setting standards for parental engagement is something we have been delivering with our Parent-Friendly Schools accreditation. The accreditation supports schools to build links between home and school. "We strongly welcome this announcement and the government being clear that it sees the value of schools and parents working together to improve outcomes for children - it's time for every school to be a Parent Friendly School." linkedin.com/posts/parentki…

Parentkind has been working with the @educationgovuk Minister @Georgia_Gould and the Secretary of State for Education @bphillipsonMP to make sure the voice of parents is heard, particularly parents with children entitled to support for Special Educational Needs and Disabilities. The DfE has done a lot of listening to parents over recent weeks and we were pleased to help bring parents and ministers together. There’s been lots of speculation over what might or might not be in the Schools White Paper today. What we know is that parents are concerned, and we’ve been able to share those concerns with Ministers directly. Whatever happens we will keep making the voice of parents heard with government. We have welcomed the fact that the door has been wide open for parents to have their say. We know that schools and local councils are under huge pressure, but parents are struggling too under the current system. Our large scale National Parent Survey 2025 (see link in comments below) found: 🏫 4 in 10 parents of children with special educational needs have mental health problems - it is really tough for parents to give their all to support their children. 🏫1 in 3 parents have asked for their child to be assessed for SEND. 43% of parents whose children have SEND say it’s difficult to get support. 🏫Income is a big issue too – parents in households with incomes under £50,000 were twice as likely to say they’ve found it difficult to receive SEN support, compared to those with incomes over £100,000 (50% vs 25%). linkedin.com/feed/update/ur…

A great use of our data in The Sun over the weekend for an article on school refusal. Our National Parent Survey and 2025 Absence Poll show that parents do want their children to go to school every day if they can - 96% - but one in three are arguing at least weekly with them about attendance. linkedin.com/feed/update/ur…
