With Aston Villa losing against Fulham in the PL today, how many more points does Man United need to secure an early UCL spot?

@ConnorF1878 He’s quite rash but he’s better than Yoro in my opinion. I think his best asset is his ball pace. He really passes the ball with meaning, even if it’s just a square ball. When Maguire passes it the ball barely arrives at the destination by comparison.

Absolutely incredible, he’ll have bad games but regardless he should be our LCB for next season imo—Heaven & Yoro battle it out for LCB minutes Type of pure defender too which means you can bring in a Van Hecke type

@Camp4 El Capitan low single digit? Unless I’m misremembering, there was a section that he never actually did with ropes on in practice wasn’t there? He fell every time until he did it without ropes? Maybe it was just edited that way.

This is a great example of most people’s inability to distinguish between: 1) Risk vs. consequence — Many high consequence activities are low risk. 2) Fear vs. danger — Things that look scary aren’t always dangerous. Honnold’s amazing feat was high consequence (death) but low risk due to his skill and preparation. The odds of *you* falling would be 100%. For Alex, the odds of falling were not zero, but likely under 0.1% (1 in 1000). Hanging off the side of a 101-story building triggers extreme fear in most people. But for an elite climber like Alex, the actual danger was low. Perhaps more than anyone else, he is able to rationally separate risk from consequence, fear from danger. Any climber will tell you that Honnold’s free solo of El Capitan (in the movie Free Solo) was 100X more dangerous. Likely a low single-digit percent chance of failure.

@SwedishRumble Amorim chose and stuck with the formation that caused those issues, and it was shit. He was shit. He was also a total and utter bellend. Good riddance. Worst manager in Utd’s modern history.

@DaleJohnsonBBC Not sure this level of micromanagement of offside is why VAR was introduced. It’s jobsworth work looking to rule goals out where it can. A net negative. I don’t think this is what fans or players want. Notwithstanding it is “technically” offside.

On the Matheus Cunha offside for Mason Mount's goal. This is a better angle than in the Sky replay, and it is the frame the VAR used. NB: There always has to be the point where a player just goes beyond the 5cm tolerance. The animation shows how far beyond the 5cm a player is.

#MUNMCI – 90+2’ VAR OVERTURN VAR checked the referee’s call of goal – and established that Cunha was in an offside position in the build-up and recommended that the goal was disallowed.

@djwskyblu @FA_PGMOL It is a glancing blow and looks infinitely worse in slow mo than real time. It’s 50:50. Wouldn’t have been over turned if given as a red card and same the other way, as it so turned out. Ref did his best to even it up the rest of the game.

Dalot on Doku - according to the Stockley Park w@nkers eg - Craig Fckin Pawson et al - it was just a ‘glancing blow’🤬 Unless you’re a United fan, that’s a red card every time. What is it about @FA_PGMOL cheating tw@ts? What is the point of VAR?

🚨🗣️ @RobDorsettSky: "Man Utd have learned a lesson from appointing Ruben Amorim and Erik ten Hag before him that they need someone who is one of the elite of world coaching, someone who is a big name who has the personality to cope with the size of club Man Utd is and the unique challenges it poses. You are talking about Thomas Tuchel, Carlo Ancelotti, Roberto De Zerbi, Luis Enrique, Marco Silva, Oliver Glasner - big names who Man Utd think would be able to cope with the size of the job this is. When Amorin was sacked last week, we learned that he had told confidants he was surprised how much nose there was around the Man Utd role and how big the job was. So I do not think Man Utd will make the same mistake again and appoint an up-and-coming coach, they want someone who has been there and done it. But Carrick is the man in possession, he has an opportunity. He has an horrific start against Man City at home and Arsenal away, but if he can get results in those two matches, there will be a positive mood to take United through the rest of the season." [Sky]

If United move to a 4-2-3-1 / 4-3-3 or some variant with 4 at the back, who plays LW? Safe to assume Mbeumo and Amad would rotate as RWs, but who starts on the left?

@FPLfrasier Cunha isn’t doing enough currently to warrant the £60m transfer fee. Not even close. Good player but not convinced he’s ever going to be more than that.

Last summer, I had to listen to arguments that Cunha would be better for our team than Bruno because he is a ball carrier 🤷🤷 I like Cunha. But, let’s not disrespect Bruno ever again. He can only be compared to the best players in the league/world.

Man United did well today. Obviously not enough to win the game which is the most important thing, but given what Amorim and the team are having to deal with, there were plenty of positives there. Absences over the next few weeks could be a killer.

I know the general trend right now is to ride the Amorim hate train.. but he quite literally gave TWENTY SEVEN Sporting Academy players their professional debut's between 2020-2024.

This kind of logic is how big clubs stay in limbo forever. Constantly chasing a past that is unattainable. It’s took SAF 5 years to build. This was before Scholes ever played for the team. Scholes joined a team that was already successful. Amorim joined a disaster.
UtdDistrict@UtdDistrict

🎙️ | Paul Scholes RIPS into Rúben Amorim and #mufc's management: "I don't think this manager just gets this club, FULL STOP. I just don't think he's the right man. "Man United's about risk and entertainment more than anything. At home, especially. Having fans on the edge of their seat, f*cking ready to go. Wingers who beat people, shots on goal, bits of skill. There's nothing there. That's from the club. "We talk about this as a different club. They've got Omar Berrada, they've got Jason Wilcox, who are probably brilliant at their job, brilliant at what they do. They're NOT Man United, they don't have a CLUE what it's like to buy a Manchester United player, to bring a Manchester United manager in. "If you go to Sporting Lisbon and watch, they play three at the back. Right away, that's no. Man United never do that. They can't do that. They just can't. It's been proven over years and years and years. And I'm talking even before Sir Alex Ferguson, it was always about 4-4-1-1 or 4-4-2. Entertaining people. He hasn't got that in him. He brought four defenders on against West Ham. If we go 1-0 up, the manager always said, 2, 3, 4. I remember once, I think we were playing Chelsea. Went 1-0 up and, we sat back a little bit. "Now, Chelsea were a good team. The manager went absolutely nuts after the game. That doesn't happen here. When you score one, you go for two. You go for the throw every single time. I just don't think he gets it." [@goodbadftblpod]
