Smiley spent 60 years at Angola before getting his freedom three years ago. He had no family left so @paroleproject brought him home and supported his reentry. Tragically, he was struck by a car while crossing a street in early January and passed away on January 31st. RIP friend.

We appreciate @LAGovJeffLandry for granting our client a commutation. Bill Ollis, an Army veteran, was held accountable for his actions and has spent decades demonstrating rehabilitation. We applaud the use of clemency for those worthy of redemption.
