The Bible and Missions by Helen Barrett Montgomery published in 1920, pg 14, “We do not send out missionaries to proclaim a “plan of salvation,” but Christ & the power of his resurrection. We are not saved by a “plan,” but by a Person.” God has a plan & Christ lived/fulfilled it.

I think I’ll take a break (after 3 years I think?) of tweeting/X-ing every day. I may start up again soon?? If it helps me process and stay focused on the Word.

When Dan Fountain arrived in the Congo in 1961, the challenges seemed overwhelming. As the only doctor for a quarter of a million residents, Fountain turned to prayer, innovation, and local partnerships to meet the vast needs of his area. buff.ly/jMdJx68

(9) Jesus is taken up into heaven…having left the Spirit, who will come in more power soon. Can you imagine: jesus met with his disciples many times in 40 days, and one day, outside Jerusalem, he was carried up into heaven. Sounds like Daniel 7 - the son of man!

The story of Jesus w/Zaccheaus is a clear example of Jesus being intentional & provocative in his interaction w/people. It would be like us inviting an IRS agent at dinner😎 or perhaps a better illustration would be a congress rep or Senator in a currently dysfunctional gov.

Bartimaeus was blind and begging all the time. He called out for help to Jesus as he walked by. People tried to make things more dignified and quiet. He got more loud. We can tend to marginalize the marginalized to make them fit in the way we think we should.

Jesus also (20) warns his followers that the world will hate them too, and (21) that the Spirit will be a necessary help for living, and then (22) prays an amazing prayer (John 17)…(23) he is arrested after his struggle with God in the garden and (24) the “trial” starts.

Jesus (16) teaches & spends time (comforts) with his team as they process all he is saying. And, He (17) gives/teaches on the H.S.-which is clear in the text that we need to function his way and not our own. Another key teaching (18) is on the vine and branches-dependency on God.

(5) cont. Jesus teaches another story about the wedding feast like the future Kingdom banquet. He (6) does Q&A with the religious leaders, who finally give up. He (7) rails against those leaders (again) as they lead people astray & reject him. (They are getting madder all week.)
