@good_ol_ducky i get being a non-native speaker can cause challenges in terms of grammar, however i truly do believe that the hrtwt community (plus tumblr, threads etc.) is full of people who would be SO eager to beta read things, ai seems a little unnecessary when that option exists

@pas__de_deux__ Thing is, spell checking is different from grammar. Non native speakers can use spell checkers and fix that, but sometimes grammar still comes out a bit wonky. That sort of AI is not disingenuous as generative AI. It is just a tool like old spellcheckers were.

the thing that’s confusing me the most about this is that writers have been spell-checking for decades before ai came along, like why wouldn’t you just put your fic into a regular spell-check website rather than feeding it into a llm or something 😭
