Exactly that. People don't know what they want. Creating a new character and plot is in my opinion the only way this movie can work. We already got the story of the games told WITHIN THE GAMES. Why doing the same thing again.

One of the more interesting slides from Capcom's financial report shows where it sells the most games.
The United States, Canada, Mexico, Brazil, UK, Germany, China and Japan are the markets where Capcom sold over 1 million games last year.
This includes console and PC games.
