They get a spouse. They live in the family where they will be sided with and pampered. And the society norms in itself makes the wife (who hasn’t known the husband for long) responsible for the husband’s care, as if he isn’t a partner but her charge. How do you expect her to cope with all those changes, and be ready to be intimate with her husband (who is as good as a stranger) without being given time to get to know him. Sex is or should be out of love and not a robotic physical act because it ‘has’ to be done. Marriage ≠ Consent. And this goes both ways. What if a woman forces the husband disregarding his personal space. She will be called a whore, and disrespectful towards her husband’s wishes. But when a woman is not prepared she will be forced because the husband has authority on her? Which law gives the husband power over his spouse. So let me make this clear. Any physical act done forcefully is assault, violence and rape. Marriage is not a license to disregard consent.
