120 Years! What a beautiful moment it was to celebrate 120 years of Gayaza Junior School and Gayaza High School. I had the deep honor of being the Mistress of Ceremonies and leading those gathered in celebrating: 120 years of shaping futures. 120 years of educating girls. 120 years of instilling values that endure. 120 years of bold vision. 120 years of nurturing leaders. 120 years of teachers who poured their hearts into us. 120 years of non-teaching staff whose quiet excellence held the school together. 120 years of discipline, dignity, courage, and community. 120 years of a sisterhood that strengthens us still. 120 years of God’s faithfulness. 120 years of Never Giving Up. Upon joining @ActivateUgandaL, I embarked on my first 100-Day challenge of walking a minimum of 3km daily in September of 2022. A crucial rule of Activate was the mandatory daily posting of our progress statistics without exception. Behind the scenes, a dedicated individual meticulously compiles and shares a detailed log of our walking or running distances and times, categorized by gender at 25, 50, and 100 days. This person ensures accuracy by promptly requesting any missed data and maintains a consistent approach. Imagine orchestrating this for around 400 participants each season – a monumental task, to say the least. Today, I had the pleasure of meeting Keith, the mastermind behind this operation. An ultra runner with numerous races under his belt, including over 30 @ComradesRace, he is now gearing up for the @RwenzoriMarathn in Uganda. Keith's generosity extends to dedicating his runs to those who are unable to, supporting charitable causes with every stride. Asked about his motivation, he simply stated, “I’ll keep going until my body says otherwise.” His enduring spirit is truly inspiring – and I can only hope some of that resilience rubbed off on me as we walked side by side today.

I am the first born at home and my parents often told me I was their guinea pig since they had never been parents before. I took the opportunity to milk that phrase on Monday 19th February when I told my parents that they were my guinea pig for the Foot Prints podcast. I am grateful that they graciously agreed to be our first guests on the podcast which debuts in April. Foot Prints is a podcast that will share stories of and wisdom from elders who have transitioned into retirement. We will share their leadership lessons; their hopes and fears during transition and how they prepared to enter and embrace this new season of their lives.
