There's still time to join my and Katie's support group for show biz folks - we pushed the start date til 5/6. This is such a challenging time. We aim to provide a safe space where people can explore their problems and find strength in community. Hope to see you there!

LETA POWELL DRAKE was a Nebraskan celebrity interviewer who in her 1970's & 1980's pomp more often than not left her subjects staring wide-eyed in disbelief at what the fuck she’d just said.

It was delightful to see Edmund Goulding in the UCLA archive’s Lauretta Edlund home movies from the 1930s. It made me recall this fun little clip from the set of The Constant Nymph (1943) with Goulding, Charles Boyer and Joan Fontaine

This April 28, 1939 photo at the Universal City Club annual dinner dance gives us an idea of the vastness of the Biltmore Bowl nightclub at the Biltmore Hotel. when it opened in the late 1920s it was called the Sala de Oro, which means “Room of Gold” and was quite lavish.

Very few photos taken during premieres at Grauman’s Chinese show us what’s happening on the south side of Hollywood Blvd. This one was taken on August 15, 1939, the night of the premiere of “The Wizard of Oz.” Look at the massive crowds sitting in bleachers on the south side.

@BBGreatMoments That's weird, because I'm pretty sure Don Larsen was hung over when he pitched his WS perfect game.

@TheNightGallery I saw Jack's one-man show many years ago and asked him about working on TZ. He said: "I loved Rod Serling's dialogue. I loved the way his words rolled around in my mouth."

"I jumped at doing anything that Rod [Serling] wrote. When my agent told me they wanted me for a Twilight Zone, I didn't have to look at the script. I said yes." — Jack Klugman, star of TZ's "A Passage for Trumpet," "A Game of Pool," "Death Ship," and "In Praise of Pip"

@noirgal17 Great find! Surely promoting 'Mandalay' (as mentioned in Lyle's panel) which starred all four. It's one of my favorite pre-Codes, released just under the wire, mid-1934.

@Todd_Spence Great clip. Johnny also famously crashed the set of the Don Rickles sitcom CPO Sharkey (as revenge for Don breaking Johnny's cigar box!)

Johnny Carson surprised Bob Newhart by appearing on his sitcom as a friend of Larry, Darryl and Darryl 😂 (1989) It was the only time Carson appeared on another show outside of the Tonight Show set

@WhitStillman I respectfully disagree. Great in Mrs. Miniver and deserved her Oscar. Churchill famously called the movie "propaganda worth 100 battleships."

"Beloved Infidel" (1959) traces the romance between Sheilah Graham (Deborah Kerr) and F. Scott Fitzgerald (Gregory Peck) and has a scene set at the Garden of Allah Hotel. (Eddie Albert is in red.) The set isn't convincing or realistic, but it's nice to see how they recreated it

@TVsTimStack Rob was such an amazing straight man in this movie, and it of course makes you think of his father's classic work with Sid Caesar. #whydon'tyoujustmake10louderandhavethatbetheloudest?

@MJMcKean Recommended read/listen re: music around this time... "All the Leaves are Brown" about The Mamas & Papas of course. There's a backstage-at-Monterey argument between The Who and Hendrix that is right out of Spinal Tap.
