Our Christmas gift each year from our principal is a book of our choice. The only rule: it cannot be a book about teaching. It has to be a book that we want to read for pleasure. My principal, Sue Haney, invests in the reading lives of our entire staff. EVERY. SINGLE. EMPLOYEE.

It’s been an exciting week filled with literacy events in @winnetka36! Literacy pilot trainings, Katherine Applegate & Gennifer Choldenko @ Hubbard Woods & Crow Island to discuss their new book, Dogtown. Today, Megan Freeman is @ Skokie sharing her writing & intentional decisions

Today we enjoyed a luncheon with our Buildings, Grounds, Custodial & Maintenance team. We regularly notice them going above & beyond. Dr. Tess recognized the heart that goes into their work & thanked them for being an integral part of our school community.

There's something special about students being so excited about their research topics that they can't stop talking about them and shout in disgust when someone else chooses a topic they were interested in. Research can be fun, everyone! #tlchat

@Brink_Thinker Freddie Mercury is my clear #1 but second place is DEEP! Possible #2: Chris Cornell, Robert Plant, Terry Kath, Janis Joplin, David Bowie, or Steve Perry

Appreciate the affirmation that our efforts in @winnetka36 around project based learning are well placed to provide our students with the rich learning they desire and deserve! Thank you, teachers!

@DrBradJohnson I heard once that people join organizations but they leave leaders. From then on, I wanted to be a leader that no one wanted to leave. It’s an important reminder that others want to be a part of something bigger than their self but one person can make them look elsewhere.

Yesterday we brought together student leaders from each school to learn from Theresa G from @swancc and brainstorm how to apply their learning. “Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful citizens can change the world. Indeed it’s the only thing that has.” -Margaret Mead
