On Friday April 03, 33 A.D. (just 7 years until the 2,000 year anniversary), Jesus Christ died on the Cross for our sins. We call this day 'Good Friday;' and when I was speaking with Jesus earlier, I opened myself to Him and said: "Jesus, I know we call this 'Good Friday,' but I just can not bring myself to say that." Many people have Good Friday off as a holiday, and I ponder how many reflect upon what that means. Most of us live our lives as if we are never going to die. While some take great care in preparing for retirement, very few of us take the time to reflect upon eternity, much less teach their children to do so. I am ashamed that I am a sinner, and require Jesus' sacrifice just to offer the 'chance' that we can leave this world to enter a better one. That is the really hard part that few reflect upon. Jesus only offers us the 'chance' for salvation, it is absolutely not guaranteed. Jesus Himself said "Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it. But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only a few find it." Jesus' words require reflection, for He was the greatest teacher who ever lived, and notice that he said: "and only a few find it." A few... how few are that few? Examine the world today, does the world we live in remind you of any cultures throughout history? Remember Lot in Sodom and Gomorra. In Genesis it states: "Because the outcry against Sodom and Gomorrah is great and their sin is very grave." Remember the two angels that visited Lot (Abraham's nephew). The city men of the city surrounded the house and demanded the male visitors (the angels) so that they could have sex with them. Jude even discusses this very issue: "Just as Sodom and Gomorra and the surrounding cities, which likewise indulged in sexual immorality and pursued unnatural desire, serve as an example by undergoing a punishment of eternal fire." Now look at today. Homosexuality has existed for a long time, but today, that unnatural sin is literally celebrated, and glorified in our media, television shows, and movies. Most shockingly beyond that, how many children have been mutilated with the sanctioning and approval of their parents? Do you really think Jesus would approve? Remember this: "Then people brought little children to Jesus for him to place his hands on them and pray for them. But the disciples rebuked them. Jesus said, 'Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the Kingdom of Heaven belongs to such as these." We must humble ourselves and open our hearts before Jesus. This verse, which few ever seem to discuss highlights this: "Truly I tell you, anyone who will not receive the Kingdom of God like a little child will never enter it." I have reflected upon this multiple times, and tried to open my heart and mind to what Jesus meant. The best thing I can come up with, is when a mother holds the hand of her little child to cross the street. Does the child question the mother? Maybe those who are a 'little older' and believe they 'know better' might say "Mommy, you don't need to hold my hand, I'm big now!" ... what would happen, could happen in such an instance? We must humble ourselves before Christ, and say: "Jesus, please hold my hand, I need you." I know that I need Him. I've often listened to interviews when famous and/or powerful people are asked: "If you could have dinner with anyone, but only one person, who would you choose?" I often pray about that. I would love to have dinner with Jesus, and pray that He would be kind enough to have a conversation with me long enough that I could ask the multitude of questions that I have. With my luck, I would forget most of the questions that I want to ask and kick myself later! lol... In any event, if you have read this far, please take a moment to think how long you will live. Our physical bodies are literally designed to have an expiration date. The one thing that you should prepare for in this life is eternity, and more importantly, you should ensure that your children are prepared. Take a moment to find a local church and talk to them about it. Take some action, because not doing so is something that you will never be able to take back if your life ends unexpectedly. Not repenting your sins, and accepting Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior is an action. Yes, I do mean doing nothing is a choice! You chose not to repent, you chose not to believe.
