Another asylum seeker convicted of hostel rape in South Kensington London. Yousif Al-Maliki, 30, an Iraqi national who arrived in the UK via a small boat, was found guilty of raping a British woman at the Astor Hostel in South Kensington. His defence team stated that he is a bisexual Iraqi national who accepts he arrived in the UK illegally, but says he was seeking refuge from persecution. Judge Hehir ordered that Mr Al-Maliki is assessed for dangerousness by the probation service before he is sentenced. Mr Al-Maliki remains in custody and is due to be sentenced on Tuesday, April 21.
