‘Twas the night before prime days and all through your feed…

State tests are hard. They don’t allow Ss to show their growth or focus on areas to be proud of. Goal setting throughout the year has made my Ss realize that although there are areas to work on- there is still plenty to be proud of. So, we set SOL goals too. #pattiepanthers
Fractions review- Marvel style! Students reviewed fractions of a region, set, number lines, comparing, and +/- collect all the infinity stones before the time is up! #pattiepanthers
Democracy in Greece- student’s experienced the frustrations of being part of a group of non-voters according to Ancient Greece laws. Roll, head down if you can’t vote, wait for your fate to be decided! #pattiepanthers
One of my favorite social studies activities- Silk Road simulation! Students start off with a variety of silk, gold, food, and camels. As they “travel” different situations cause them to gain and lose supplies! Points at the end for what you have left! #pattiepanthers
Today we worked together in our elements to review for our fractions test! Students had to communicate, justify, cooperate, and learn how to appropriately disagree with one another! Tune in tomorrow to see which element will complete all 5 levels! #pattiepanthers
One of my favorite beginning fraction games- “what’s missing or what am I covering?” Ss create a proper fraction and partners determine what is missing to make a whole. Great opportunity to discuss part part whole, unit fractions, and adding fractions. #pattiepanthers
Pattie Problem Solving Process- an adapted version of UPSC. Ss use a checklist with prompting questions to THINK and PLAN before solving. Word problems can be tough but training our brains on how to approach these problems can help! Sharing our thinking helps too. #pattiepanthers
HMH module #7- how one person can change a community! Module launch- solving community crisis! As worked in pairs to to read, discuss, and write about common community issues and how they can solve them.
Student engagement is being able to hear a pin drop during “trust no one” #gimkit to review our multiplication strategies. The only sounds were the quiet “yes” from students getting correct answers! #pattiepanthers
These kids accepted my challenge! Create an “odd one out” for X strategies! Learn to take and upload a photo, draw, and speak on flip grid and share your thinking! Big thinking happening for EVERY ABILITY, in rm 211! #pattiepanthers
Today we practiced a new structure- inside outside circle -that we’ll use to promote oral language, active listening skills, and thinking accountability. Inside outside circles allows Ss to hear multiple perspectives and responses! #pattiepanthers
Ss were introduced to their new talking chips! Taking turns speaking and listening and preventing the hogs from steaming rolling over the logs ☺️ they can also be used to group students and call on kids randomly by shape or color! #pattiepanthers
Ss worked in element teams to reassemble vocab slide puzzles and then generated their own vocabulary sentences. Which element won? #pattiepanthers 🌍 🌬 🔥 💧
New @HMHCo module means a module launch! Categorizing pictures on your own and then with given headings! Students used sentence frames to justify their reasoning. #pattiepanthers
Great 💰money math warm up- would you rather? Prompts some high level reasoning skills. After this question, students were asked how the coins could be changed to be equal. #pattiepanthers#productivestruggle
