@CentrifugaGeot1 Yes. Even if it’s just the basics. But the concept should be taught, helps to understand lots of soil mechanics

bbc.com/news/live/worl… This is unreinforced mud brick masonry. There might be some old tension timber members in there, and maybe its been strengthened. But rocking like that will have caused damage to the base and the Minaret will likely collapse in the coming aftershocks

Terrible news from Morocco, with a M6.8 earthquake. There are many unreinforced masonry, mud brick and rammed earth buildings across southern Morocco which don't perform well in earthquakes. Stay outside and watch for aftershocks in the next few hours and days. @EEFITmission

It’s amazing how variable shapes and sizes of particles, some thousands of times bigger than others can all be explained with a single angle of repose. We don’t really understand why. Then add water to the mix and it’s a whole lot more complicated 😊

15 years ago today I won the Newcomer award at the Edinburgh fringe. I won £5K and paid it off my car loan. I had excellent friends with me whose faces I had to check in case I’d heard the announcement wrong. I ran into the street to get signal to ring my then boyfriend now husband. I’m a week from starting my 7th tour. SHEESH.

The last few weeks, since the Tour de France, I've been pretty much sober. Not just sober, but doing everything to be healthy, quite successfully. And with that, I've been moody. Tonight, I've been drinking, and very, VERY happy. I've probably got a problem, that many have.

Not sure what these holes in the external wall were, possibly chicken nooks for laying eggs as it looks like a lean too structure is also missing (holes above for beams?). #Mandritsa #adobe
