Hot take: self-hosted LLMs aren’t “competing” with frontier models the way people on here claim.

🤯 Breaking : You don’t need to pay $100/month to use Claude Code. You can run a similar AI coding workflow completely free using @ollama. No subscriptions. No API costs. Runs locally on your machine. Here’s how developers are doing it. The idea is simple: Instead of calling paid APIs from companies like Anthropic or OpenAI, you run open models locally using Ollama. That means your AI coding assistant runs directly on your computer. Step-by-step setup: 1️⃣ Step 1 - Install Ollama Go to the official site and install it. Once installed, verify it: ollama --version 2️⃣ Step 2 - Download a coding model Run: ollama pull deepseek-coder or ollama pull codellama Both are strong coding models. 3️⃣ Step 3 - Start the model Run: ollama run deepseek-coder Now you have a coding AI running locally. 4️⃣ Step 4 - Use it with your code Open your project folder and ask things like: Explain this repository Refactor this function Write tests for this file Find bugs in this code Because the model runs locally, you can paste entire files without worrying about API limits. Useful things you can do with this setup: 1. understand large GitHub repositories 2. refactor messy or legacy code 3. generate unit tests 4. debug errors faster 5. generate documentation Tools like Ollama are quietly making local AI development much more practical. Bookmark this if you want a free AI coding setup. Follow @swadeshkumar_ for LLM fine tuning and AI trends. Curious - are you using cloud AI tools or running models locally now?

I combined @Lunayian and @noridoesvr concepts into a single image. Keeping the battery and computer separate should've been the approach from the start (after PCVR) IMO.
