21-month-old Jawad Abu Nassar was detained alongside his father by Israeli forces in central Gaza — and returned to his family ten hours later, alone. Doctors found wounds on his legs consistent with cigarette burns and signs of torture. The Israeli military denies abusing the child, and says his father — who remains missing — was a Hamas member who used him as a human shield. It has not publicly provided evidence to support that claim. Watch the full report from @sparkomat ⬇️. Warning: contains some distressing images. youtube.com/watch?v=kbc7RI…

Allow me to add a little context. The maximum capacity that the Crown Courts can sit is 130,000 days a year. The government is - for reasons of money - forcing courts to close on 19,000 days per year. At a time when the backlog is so bad, the govt wants to remove jury trial.
Ministry of Justice@MoJGovUK

We’re making a record investment: over 111,000 Crown Court sitting days this financial year – the most in a decade. More court time means faster justice for victims and our ambition is to go higher next year to reduce the backlogs. Read more: bit.ly/4974A8q

What is Labour's response to a crumbling criminal justice system after 20 years of underfunding? To abolish juries. Time to stop destructive tinkering with the system and go for radical reform, says @LegalActionGrp's CEO @sue_james1. 📖 Read on ➡️ hi.switchy.io/lSJg

If you don't think it's democratic that 33.7% of votes should give a party nearly 64% of the seats in Parliament, then please, sign and share as much as you can. Currently, your vote can be wasted, it can be ignored. Get your voice heard. Equality for all. petition.parliament.uk/petitions/7280…

STATEMENT FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE BRITISH FAMILIES OF GAZA HOSTAGES AND 7/10/23 MURDER VICTIMS IMPLORE PRIME MINISTER TO DO MORE TO PRESSURE HAMAS TO RELEASE HOSTAGES 12.9.25 Yesterday, four families of current and former hostages and murder victims had a meeting with the Prime Minister, Sir Keir Starmer, at 10 Downing Street. They gave the Prime Minister an insight into the deep pain and trauma caused by hostage-taking, and the fact that Hamas continues to hold 48 living and dead hostages, including Avinatan Or, who is alive, and whose mother is British, and the remains of Yossi Sharabi, who has close British family. The Prime Minister said again that what the families were going through was torture, that Hamas was a terrorist organisation and must have nothing to do with what happens going forward in Gaza. The families had said at recent meetings with the Foreign Secretary and others that the UK should place more pressure on Hamas, a proscribed terrorist group in the UK, to release the hostages and reach a ceasefire deal. The families therefore presented the Prime Minister with a detailed proposal setting out potential sanctions and other measures which the UK could implement to place much-needed pressure on Hamas. Some family members also expressed their concern about the plan to recognise a State of Palestine and requested that such further steps should be delayed until the hostages are released, in order to ensure that Hamas does not believe that if it stalls on a ceasefire it will be rewarded. The meeting was frank and open. The families are hopeful that it will have been productive. The meeting involved family members of British hostages Emily Damari (released in January 2025) and Nadav Popplewell (killed in February 2024), and British-connected hostages Yossi Sharabi (still a hostage, killed in January 2024), Eli Sharabi, Channah Peri and Yocheved Lifschitz (all released) and Oded Lifschitz (killed in November 2023). The UK’s Ambassador to Israel, His Excellency Simon Walters, also attended. Adam Rose and Adam Wagner KC accompanied the families and continue to advocate for the immediate and unconditional release of Avinatan, Yossi and the 46 other hostages. Photo credit: @10DowningStreet

This is who @EssexPR and @orlaminihane (neither of whom are from #Epping) bring to our town. Shouting about ‘protecting kids’ while endangering them with every protest, standing beside actual paedophiles. Your protests have not worked. Take your collective 6 brain cells with you and go home now… off you pop!

Check your profile location and your tweet location, perhaps? “Concerned Epping Mum” 😂 Families and businesses are here all the time, not just when the cameras are on. One local business owner, recovering from stage 4 cancer, has lost 75% of his revenue directly because of these protests. Stop exploiting women’s and children’s safety to chase votes, @orlaminihane. It’s abhorrent. We are the real parents, teachers, business owners and residents of #Epping, and we are sick of your grift. #EppingSaysNo #FactsNotFear

This isn't about flags, or about asylum policy. It's about far-right street thugs being able to intimidate, harass, and assault whoever they want using the cover of 'legitimate concerns'. And it's astonishing that the Prime Minister can't bring himself to condemn any of it.
Mukhtar@I_amMukhtar

This is disgusting. A local lad came out to give his opinion to the media, and when the thugs didn't like what he was saying, they chased him and called him a pedo.
