Bengal isn't suddenly going to be a doomsday hellhole like people are fearing/predicting. Just that it will slowly but surely go to shit even more than it is today. Law and order, what little exists will get worse. MLAs, Government servants, what little they did, will do nothing going forward. Basically the system, which didn't give much of a shit about the citizens to begin with, will totally not give a shit going forward. Basically Bengal will follow the Maharashtra model.

Shamelessly brazen communal declaration by an elected leader. This is unconstitutional and violates electoral and democratic decorum. A precursor to what is to come perhaps. I hope that the opposition does everything in its power to protect all minorities and vulnerable in Bengal

Imagine being proud of the fact that the identity of the political party you support is that of a bulldozer demolishing poor people's homes and small businesses.

This. Theres a very disingenuous strand of analysis thats pushing the narrative that SIR did not help the BJP. Do not let them get away with it. Its a way to redirect attention to what is the most violent erasure and disenfranchisement of the people of Bengal.
Hartosh Singh Bal@HartoshSinghBal

the point lost or deliberately glossed over by the attempts to normalise this by saying but the bjp would have won despite SIR. there is no despite, we are in a territory we have never been in before...this does not count as an election, our process is vitiated as never before.

New generation is so dumb regarding everything. Tbh not their fault they grew up in India’s worst time. The concept of questioning and accountability is a very foreign concept to them. They only know hero worshiping and whatever suits their vibe

I hope we become more and more intolerant with BJP voters and Modichods around us. Zero tolerance within our private circles. …decent children of BJP-voting parents, figure out a way. No more it-is-what-it-is position.

@adilhossain Across WB and Assam so many Bengalis with no voting rights. Complete dehumanization of the Bengali working class. That is how I see May4. . One bengal is worried about no fish, the other bengal will have no vote, no aadhar card, no school admission, no future basically

The Bharatiya Janata Party has not even officially taken charge, yet the unrest has began. Incessant Vandalism across Bengal. Empty streets, gloomy atmosphere. Destroying party offices one after one, physically assaulting candidates and workers infront of central forces, Shutting shops, dismantling Maa canteens, men on bikes & their war cry, playing obscene songs on loudspeakers, threatening men & women across all sections of the society in the name of political victory. Don’t think this is the Shonar Bangla the people of Bengal voted for and hope the media has the guts to show these visuals but can already see them turning coats & bootlicking.

It has not even been 48 hours and we have seen Bulldozer demolition, meat shop destruction and closure, shouting Jai Shree Ram at visibly Muslim persons, and utter hooliganism. Bengal will truly be the dystopia heartland of Hindutva. Poriborton is happening at lightning speed.

All parties should let go of their individual aspirations and non-negotiably come together against the BJP. We are living in a binary now.

BJP draws confidence from the Election Commission, which draws confidence from the Supreme Court, which draws confidence from BJP. The Indian electoral democracy is forever frozen in this loop. All institutions collude to coercively seize power from a woman-led regional party

"AI uses less water than golf courses!" Okay. Get rid of them both, then. They both largely benefit the wealthy and virtually nobody else. This is a useless argument.
