Double-edged swords: invented to increase effectiveness in battle, and along with that, introduced new risks. The additional edge was an acceptable risk, that could be managed with training.

Hey @ORUConnect it’s been a pretty rough year for power outages here in Southfields NY. Momentary outages wouldn’t be a big deal, but it’s happened several times this year, for several hours each time. Drive for 10 minutes in any direction, there’s power there. Why so frequent?

As it relates specifically to JavaScript, I don't find "functional" codebases easier to read. That's like saying "Italian is easier to read than English", while knowing how to read Italian. It's gonna take me a while to learn Italian.

Reading about the Projen project generator this AM. I'm SO in, because the CLI tool has a command called: clobber `hard resets to HEAD of origin and cleans the local repo` github.com/projen/projen

I had to sit down and make myself understand unicode today only to realize what I REALLY needed to understand was how to not forget to set flags on a regex.

@VicVijayakumar A day late on this, but if you want to access my resume please send me your public key and a biometric sample because 10 years ago I forked gitolite and have integrated it with about a half dozen DNA sequencing tools.

it blows my mind that people apply for senior developer jobs and they link to a github or gitlab wow way to show me you don’t know how to run your own git server

A question that every developer has to ask themselves at some point is: “should I do what feels easier for me now, but makes life harder in the future for my users, my teammates, and myself?” There can be other factors that influence the decision, but the answer should be NO.

@AnthonyPAlicea Someone I know was taking a college course, ran into a problem with an assignment. The teacher couldn’t figure it out either. Sent them the finished code to copy/paste in. 🤦🏻‍♂️

I’ve had so many people over the years tell me they learned more from taking an on-sale Udemy course of mine than from the bootcamp they paid thousands of dollars for, it really makes me wonder about the bootcamps out there (I have no personal experience with them).
