@Beesotted And the Villa player knew it was off and pretended that he had prevented it going off..

I’d say that’s pretty conclusive proof showing the whole ball was over the whole of the line ⚽️ 🥅 ⛔️ which we all know anyway #BrentfordFC

@tomhfh And isn’t it amazing that the conspiracy theorists were not in the trial and have apparently not read the appeal judgement
English

@WilliamJHague You didn’t set out the arguments *for*. The only positive argument you set out was that it will stop illegal immigrants accessing legitimate services… that is shutting the stable door…

The Prime Minister is now expected to announce a compulsory digital ID scheme.
Exactly the right move.
Now it’s important the scheme is done properly as I argued in my column earlier this week: secure, ambitious, and with public trust at its core.
William Hague@WilliamJHague
Arguments against digital ID are paper thin. The reality is most voters now back them. The Prime Minister should have the courage to embrace them in full.

@TonyDowson5 Of course they are … can’t imagine why I had not realised that before…

"Lord Hermer: Human rights are key for growth"

@TonyDowson5 What wonderful clarification… almost as good as the public official lying offence.

Absolutely thrilled to start at the Spectator this summer, though I will really miss my Telegraph colleagues after six wonderful years
Thank you to @michaelgove for this honour and thanks to the Telegraph for giving me so many amazing opportunities 🙏

@GRevellEcho I hope another paper is going to benefit from your excellent reporting. Good luck Georgia.

@NadineDorries She did have a fair trial. And a fair appeal. That is our system. You really should shut up about this.
English

The Lucy Letby debate rages on.
The fact that she did not have a fair trial cannot be brushed away.

@NadineDorries @NewYorker @RachelAviv So a nyt journalist understands the evidence better than the lawyers involved. Rubbish
English

It costs £100k to obtain the transcripts relating to the trial of nurse #LucyLetby.
Journalist @NewYorker @RachelAviv has obtained the material and written a 13000 word article exposing why so many have grave concerns regarding the safety of the trial.
It’s geoblocked in the U.K. which means you can’t read it.
You can however go to mephitis.co and in a blog pertaining to the Letby trial is a link to the article you click on and access - but do it soon… before that too is blocked.
Anyone who cares about how justice is served needs to read it.

@AdamWagner1 People missed flights, which placed the taxi driver at risk as he can become volatile without his medication.
“An individual suffering from aggressive cancer missed an appointment as a cancer patient and had to wait another two months for another appointment.”

@pcavin2 They didn’t cause any of those things - it was a plan
English

These are very long sentences indeed for peaceful though highly disruptive protests - the longest ever? 4 to 5 years in prison for (I think) the new statutory offence of causing public nuisance

English

@AdamWagner1 It was a plan which was carried out. Read sentencing remarks-
“People missed flights, people missed funerals, students were delayed for their mock exam,” said the judge. “A child with special needs on his way to school missed part of the school day and [missed] his medication …
English

@SpinningHugo Well that is a different issue. Anyway in practice the reasons are obvious. The prosecution have presented a strong case. In acquittals … well who knows but how would having reasons help?
English

@SpinningHugo Time saved would be overtaken by writing and delivering a reasoned judgement
English

@SpinningHugo So Hugo I share some of your concerns about the jury system. They acquit far too often- especially in sexual allegations. However it would not shorten trials to have a judge alone because he would have to hear the same evidence. At best you save some jury retirement time but…
