Most of the 1,457 Proof Indian Cents minted in 1907 lose their red color—turning chocolate, blue, and even magenta. This PCGS MS67+RD example didn’t. With fiery red luster and orange highlights, this stunning specimen sits alone at the top of the pop.

Early 1873 coins featured a “Closed 3” that looked more like an “8,” later prompting the Mint to update the design. This 1873 Liberty Seated Half Dollar shows that closed 3. It’s a common variety—but these colors? Anything but. As the only example in PCGS F12, it’s a beauty.

The 1922 High Relief Peace Dollar demanded extreme striking pressure — more than standard presses could handle, leading to rapid die failure.  Most examples were melted and three sandblasted survivors remain. This is the finest known, graded PCGS SP64. It last realized $192,000.

Over six billion Lincoln Cents were struck at the Philadelphia Mint in 1979, but this example is a one of one. A foreign object came between the die and "penny" planchet during minting, leaving an odd impression on the obverse. What could that object have been?

Buffalo Nickel 🤝 one cent This PCGS MS64BN 1917 Buffalo Nickel was struck on a cent planchet at the U.S. Mint — an off-metal error that blends two iconic coins into one. Do you have any Buffalo Nickel errors?

This “splasher” was made by pressing a die into soft metal poured over paper, leaving a paper-backed reverse behind. Splashers are done to test a die before coin production and they’re never meant to circulate. This example shows a double eagle obverse — and only three are known.

It's basketball season, and the 2020-P $1 silver coin honors the game and the players who define it. It celebrates 60 years of the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame. Hall of Famers could be playing right now. If coins had a hall of fame, which one leads your class?

Issued as currency redeemable for gold, the 1922 $20 Gold Certificate is historic on its own. Yet, with a nearly perfect grade, this example is on another level. Folded, carried, spent — that’s the life of most notes. But this one looks nearly untouched after more than a century.

Colonial coinage meets Toner Tuesday. About 200,000 5 sols were struck in 1670 to introduce hard money to the French colonies in America — but most were melted down for silver. This glorious PCGS MS62 example survives and stuns, boasting splashes of blue, yellow, and pink.

April’s Mint Error Mondays start strong with this 2001-P Roosevelt Dime. A shattered die left a gash in the president’s portrait, turning a common coin into something worth a second look. When’s the last time you found an error in your change?

Nothing better to start the week than with an iconic cent. This 1965 Lincoln Cent was struck, failed to eject, flipped over, and struck again—leaving a superimposed Lincoln Memorial on its obverse. Happy Sunday.

No one knows when the Washington Success medals were struck, but they’re believed to honor George Washington’s second inauguration. This PCGS MS63+ example features a die crack through Washington's nose and a “pellet” on the reverse—often interpreted as an all-seeing eye.

Only 12,450,181 Roosevelt Dimes were made at the Philadelphia Mint in 1955—the lowest of the circulation-strike series. The low mintage is a result of a low demand for new U.S. coins following an economic recession. While common in circulated grades, examples become scarce starting at MS67. Only two examples are finer than this PCGS MS67+ specimen. Read more at l.pcgs.com/1955-frd-x.
