A little inside info about Monday night’s debate: there wasn’t a visible countdown clock during the KOIN debate, so candidates had to manage their timing on instinct — otherwise they’d get a hard stop from the moderators. 😬

The paid circulators for IP-28 are often at farmers markets and are asking bystanders if they want to protect animals in Oregon.
FaithP314@based_in_faith

@PDXReal1 No way they many signed if they knew the full text of it. Wonder where the paid gatherers were collecting? And if anyone can share what they said? Ask before you sign any petitions, they should be able to give you the full text. And if the sheets are white they are volunteers

Update on IP-28 (“PEACE Act”) It would strip out legal exemptions—putting hunting, fishing, trapping, rodent control, and common ag practices on the same footing as animal abuse. Think through the downstream effects: food, wildlife management, rural life. 111,867 signatures in 117,173 needed Paid signature gathering from out of state interests still short. Deadline: July 2nd

I would also add to this Dutch Brothers Corp permanently leaving Oregon, Portland losing 50% of their restaurants during the COVID lockdowns, and massive layoffs at Nike, including its stock plummeting by nearly 2/3’s over the last four years. I would also add the issues Intel has had over the last several years, but they are experiencing a significant resurgence this year due to AI-driven server demand.
Wall Street Apes@WallStreetApes

The fall of Portland, Oregon Here are major retailers that left Portland over declining conditions due to Democrat policies from 2022–2026 - Nike Community Factory Store (Operated since 1984, 40 years) Closed permanently because of 276 shoplifting reports in one year. They cited deteriorating public safety. Nike sent a letter to the mayor citing conditions - Walmart (Both Portland Locations)
580 employees laid off - Target (Three Stores)
Reason: Explicitly cited organized retail crime and shoplifting - REI
Reason: Highest break-in rate in two decades; over $800,000 spent on extra security in 2022 (including multiple incidents, one with a vehicle through the doors on Black Friday) - U.S. Bank (U.S. Bancorp Tower) Announced it would not renew its long-term lease
Building Sale: Sold in July 2025 for $45 million (down from $372 million in 2015 — ~88% value decline). - Wells Fargo
Announced plans to exit Portland - Starbucks
Closed at least 5–6 Portland locations in September 2025 alone. - Nordstrom Rack (Downtown)
 - CVS Pharmacy (SW Broadway) Reason: Employee cited shoplifting as a factor Malls Major Retail Centers also closed Pioneer Place Mall: Once had roughly 100 stores. It’s now down to 20. Described as a “dead mall.” • Lloyd Center Mall: Confirmed for full demolition. Now 90% vacant PacWest Center: Sold October 2025 for $55.7 million (down from $170 million in 2016. That’s a 67% drop) - Montgomery Park: Sold August 2024 for $33 million (down from $255 million in 2019, that’s a 87% drop)

Exclusive footage from inside the Portland Multnomah Athletic Club just before 3 a.m. The individual involved (now deceased) was a disgruntled employee. Explosive devices were used, and not all detonated. The first floor shows significant damage. The club is closed until further notice and will require substantial renovation.

This wasn’t a “poll” in the scientific sense—it was an open IG story to our audience. Anyone could vote, no party verification, and no undecided option. So it reflects who follows PDX Real: Republicans, NAVS, Democrats and so on. What makes it interesting is that it still roughly tracks with paid polling—which talks to a few hundred carefully selected people and costs ~$30k+. It’s not meant to be definitive—just a snapshot on our platform.

Saving Oregon@wesaveoregon

Its not a valid poll unless participants were randomly selected? Where they? You say the sample size was 2500. What was the R value (the margin of error). Were people from Vancoucer excluded? Without a random sample orf oregonians, its just a pre-selected groups opinion, probably largely from the Portland MSA and grossly invalid.

Hot take: calling @ChristineDrazan a “loser” says more about how little people understand politics than it does about her. Most serious candidates don’t win on the first try. And this is a state with nearly 4 decades of one-party rule. I’ve spent time around her. She’s not loud—she’s measured. And I think some people misread that. Behind the scenes? Strategic. All in. Tough. In more fights than people realize— has helped stop a lot of problematic legislation, even under a supermajority. You don’t have to support her. I’m not telling you to. But running twice in this environment doesn’t make you weak—it makes you a problem for the status quo. I wish we had more people fighting this hard across our state.

@PDXReal1 Because she CAN’T win! We have been through this.

Angela Todd started PDX Real after seeing problems in her own neighborhood, and realizing most people don’t know who is actually responsible. That matters. If Oregonians want change, they need more than frustration. They need knowledge, and the courage to ask who is accountable.

Just about 10 years ago, I had an awakening—I realized change starts with taking personality responsibility. That’s why we show up: to help people engage, learn more about civics and to understand who’s accountable. Thank you @ORDiscussion for giving me the chance to share a bit of my story.

If you’re wondering how Oregon's legislature shifts—it’s not abstract. It comes down to three seats. This is one of them. I sat down with Andrew Morrison (HD 48) ⬇️

Portland City Council approved two new fees (read - taxes) to raise tens of millions for road upkeep. Reportedly, at least two additional fees will be passed by the council in the next month. Not all of the fees will go to maintenance. 25% will go to the disastrous Vision Zero projects. You’ve undoubtedly been seeing them pop up all over the city - reducing car lanes to incorporate bike lanes and walk ways no one uses, which increases car congestion so it will, in theory, force people to take a mass transit system that is both dangerous and has seen reductions in service over the last few years. The city and county is forcing its citizens to tighten their financial belts while they increase spending across the board, with almost no oversight. The Portland Metro annual budget - which includes the city, county, and metro - is approaching $13 billion this year, which is as much as 3 or 4 times the budgets of municipalities of similar size in other parts of the US.
