@PDXReal1 A man I talked to in line at DMV told me he was somewhere were a guy was getting signatures for this, and the guy was saying it was only to stop cruelty to pets. Luckily he knew better and didn't sign. That's how they got that many signatures.

Oregon IP28, the PEACE Act, has received the 117k signatures necessary to place it on the November election. The Secretary of State is now working to certify the signatures.

The gas tax failed in a blaze of glory. Nearly a year ago, we made our first post about the bullshit happening in the legislature around this gas tax. Since then, we’ve had a full year of reporting, organizing, debating, pushing back, and refusing to let this go quietly. There were setbacks. Plenty of them. But we never gave up. And in the end, there was one loud answer from all of us: No. Thank you to every single person who debated, circulated, signed, created, amplified, testified, posted, shared, questioned, and spoke up. You mattered. Every bit of it mattered. Congratulations, Oregon. We found our voice.

More election tomfoolery out of Clackamas County: Around 30k ballots have yet to be counted. This late counting also occurred in 2024. There’s also reports of registered Republicans being changed to NAV’s. There will be more results announced at 5pm today. The elections office have no idea where in the county the ballots are coming in from. In Clackamas County Commission position 5, @BenforOregon trails his challenger by less than 3k votes.

…and then, 10 minutes after posting this headline, @Oregonian thought better of pissing off its public union masters, and changed it to this:

Congratulations to @ChristineDrazan for her hard-fought victory in the GOP gubernatorial primary! Also, great news that Measure 120 was shot down in flames. 5X’s more votes against the gas tax than for it should be a warning to Dems in November that with powerful enough coalitions, even their super-majority power can be soundly defeated.

We spent weeks reviewing videos, posts, public records, activist ties, and political alliances surrounding appointed Oregon House Representative Lamar Wise. What emerged was a case study in the growing disconnect between Oregon’s political class and the communities they represent. This probably isn’t a bad thing. However, Democrats in blue states tend to vote at the last minute, so it will be interesting to see what the totals are when all ballots are counted.

Meanwhile, PBOT is celebrating planters on Broadway while streets get lane closures, more congestion, and roads patched — not fixed. This isn’t a revenue problem. It’s a priorities problem.

I wouldn’t put much stock in the recent “poll,” which isn’t a poll at all, but rather a survey. Plus, we should all know by now that polling has proven to be less and less reliable. In other words, vote for the candidate whom 1) you feel will do the best job, and 2) who has the best chance to win against Kotek. After all, this state’s life, and your future, depends upon it.
