@Nesquik1962 Yes, this is quite new 😆 I’ve seen tails & heads in the ivy before but only as they are making their way over fences etc, not sleeping on / in it!!
English

I went to talk to Billy no mates & he took himself off to big Ash to contemplate the world. #Starlings are gregarious, they fight but it's unusual for one to hang around. The only time I've seen it is fledgling time. Billy came back so I took some film if anyone can see anything?

English

I'm a bit worried about Billy no mates he seems a bit lethargic. He can fly and he looks in tip top courting colours but all the same I'll have to keep an eye out for him. #Starling

English

@Nesquik1962 Yes, exactly that, that was my experience. I thought at first Jack was actually killing it, but he’d just grabbed its feathers in his beak and was teaching it a lesson I guess, he did let it go but it’s best he’s kept segregated from them as far as possible!!
English

@pekingfrog Housesparrows are screamers 😱 I had a small bit of trellis plastic string that I'd not got rid of. One got caught in it and the screaming was horrific. I managed to get it loose but I thought a bird of prey was dissecting it from the noise.
English

@Nesquik1962 It was defs because the sparrow was attempting to take the mealworms & he wasn’t sharing but it was very aggressive & the poor sparrow ‘screaming’ but he let it go eventually. I was on alert with him then, & it happened again, but now I feed him separately on his own pedestal! 🤴
English

@pekingfrog Wow! I suppose he is a Corvid after all and they are all alert for an easy meal while looking innocent with the peanuts in their beak.
English

@Nesquik1962 You have to be a little bit careful with them too. Jack did twice grab a little sparrow trying to take mealworms, the sparrow was fine but I never trusted him with the small birds after that display of aggression, so I keep him as separated as possible from the others
English

@pekingfrog Thanks. They won't get much round here then. The Starlings are voracious. I have to keep an eye out for the Grey wagtail & go out specifically for him/her. The nuts they can pick up round the garden if they come down.
English

@MOOHMMYM It’s just patience, they’ll probably come down one day but yes, the squirrels would get any treats first!!
English

@Nesquik1962 His favourite is the live mealworms but he likes nuts too. Given a choice, walnut, Brazil, almond. He’ll occasionally take a grape, an occasional piece of bread. He’s definitely about variety but the mealworms are a staple.
English

@pekingfrog what does your Jackdaw like to eat. I keep hearing them but don't know what they might like?
English

@MOOHMMYM Yes, very sad seeing nature destroyed by development and businesses 😭
English

@MOOHMMYM Lots of options for cam now, some have leds that come on too, so footage is in colour (colour night vision) but they can spook the animals. You can also get ones that are 4g (cellular) so you don’t need wifi or have to keep checking manual cards. Look for pan & tilt options too.
