@Keir_Starmer Typical Starmer statement. Tells you absolutely nothing. Half of what? What ways are you investing in improving policing? He is the master of blanket statements. How many people feel reassured things will improve after a weak statement like this?

It is totally unacceptable that women don’t feel safe going about their lives.
I’m determined to halve violence against women and girls.
We are investing in ways to improve how the police respond to these horrific crimes.

@AdriThink @elonmusk I think you'll find Elon Musks comment was enough is enough. He didn't mention the offenders nationality?
English

@elonmusk To all the north Americans that are throwing hate and saying that all the crime that happens in the US is because of Latinos, I would like for you to tell me if Ted Bundy, Charles Manson, Timothy McVeigh, Jeffrey Dahmer and Epstein are latinos.... Guess is easier to blame the few
English

@Baddiel Good god, from one comment I've never seen so many people totally miss the point and post a response that had nothing to do with the original comment. David Baddiel why do you bother?
English

@DeborahMeaden @Andy_T_ Agree 100%. I believe you will debate anything so long as it is not abusive. Like they say" if you don't want to get dirty don't wrestle a pig"

@Andy_T_ And exactly why I’m not leaving… despite some pretty unpleasant stuff

@KirstieMAllsopp @justina_h842 @PrivateEyeNews The person who reported this to social services Kirstie is the one who has problems. Smacks of someone who is extremely jealous of you? It couldn't be Phil could it? 😂
English

@justina_h842 @PrivateEyeNews Only sad because Dad died in June, he was a huge Private Eye fan and would have loved to see his beloved Grandson mentioned in this way.

Saddest I’ve been since my Dad died, he would have loved this so much, Thank you @PrivateEyeNews and Bless you. 🙏

Many riotous jokes in the new @PrivateEyeNews but esp enjoyed this spoof inspired by Kirstie Allsopp. (Sir Herbert Gussett my favourite character)

@LondonThemis @JMPSimor @JohninBucuresti I am far more offended by your post. Wake up and realise something is very wrong and is going to get worse. Do something constructive instead of trying to score political points. I would love to hear your ideas on how we stop our children being murdered?
English

@JMPSimor @JohninBucuresti It's what he lives for, to stoke division and fire up the rabble. It's all he's ever done. I thought there'd be such relief with the Tories out, but with Britain's version of Trump as an MP, it's just as terrifying.

I don’t care what your views are of Farage, this should be condemned by everyone.

My huge thanks to South Yorkshire Police today. I will not be bullied or cowed by a violent left-wing mob who hate our country.

@MarkoSilberhand I'll give you a clue $$$$$$$$$$ plus criminals = Politicians
English

No he didn't. Despicable actions deserve a harsh response. Just remember he could have avoided a beating by not keying the guys car.

Stanislav Petrov, the man who saved the world from nuclear disaster, on this day in 1983, 39 years ago today, saw the word "LAUNCH" flash across the Soviet Union's attack early warning system. His screen stated with high reliability that a total of five American intercontinental ballistic missiles (ICBMs) had been launched and were headed toward the Soviet Union. Petrov had to make a decision: should he report an incoming American strike, or should he hold off, confident that what they were seeing was a false alarm?
If he reported it, Soviet nuclear doctrine called for a full nuclear retaliation. There would be no time to double-check the warning system or seek negotiations with the U.S. This occurred during the Reagan administration, which had taken a firmer stance against the Soviets compared to previous administrations. The Reagan administration was deploying Pershing I nuclear-armed missiles to West Germany and Great Britain, capable of striking the Soviet Union. Given these circumstances, Petrov had reasons to believe that Reagan's brinkmanship had escalated to an actual nuclear exchange.
However, Petrov chose not to report the incoming strike. In the end, his decision proved to be correct. The system had mistaken the sun's reflection off of clouds for a missile. A 1979 report by Congress had estimated that a full-scale Soviet assault on the U.S., and an eventual counter-strike, would have resulted in over 100 million deaths. Petrov, almost single-handedly, prevented those deaths.
Despite being right, Petrov was relentlessly interrogated afterward and never rewarded for his decision, according to David Hoffman of The Washington Post.
