as someone who's written plenty of unlikeable leads before, you gotta be prepared for people not to like your leads. if your mc is a dick, people are gonna respond that way, why would you want people to root for someone you yourself described as a dickhead

@AmyB_Writes ofc its more nuanced than i conveyed in my og tweet and i do agree to an extent with you. having said that, making colin some type of predator is literally the opposite of canon. that's personally where i draw the line between what makes a fic polin and what makes it an original

@penelopecolinb I don't really think it's all or nothing, they can still maintain a lot of their personality traits without hanging onto every little detail. it doesn't make them original characters, they're still them, just with a twist. if every fic were the exact same we'd be bored to tears.

some polin fic writers just wanna write originals with polins names on it and that's okay cuz they're writing that for free. yall dont have to read it lmao

if you update slowly, readers leave. if you update fast, it’s ai. grammar mistakes? people lecture you. almost no mistakes or no mistakes at all? ai. long sentences? bad writing. short ones? also ai. you literally can’t win
