@AbroadInJapan The national pass, definitely not, but the smaller regional passes are definitely worth looking into. Purchased a JR East 5 day pass for Kansai back in Aug for approx ¥10,000 and easily used more than that, just going to Kinosaki onsen and back.

The Japan Rail pass doesn't seem like good value anymore, at least from a pure financial standpoint. Perhaps in terms of convenience. Thoughts on it? Worth it or not for overseas tourists?
