@gnome_alice You may have looked already Madron records not on family history websites at Kresen Kernow may have more info your Mum's MGF and name of his father. If you let me have names people not found I have subscription atm and could take quick look if you want. DM ok if don't want post.

@penwithwriter Mum's mat gfather was born in Madron Workhouse to an single mother Mum's mat gmother was bn 1879 Pemberton. Her mother's family were all Morvah 1 I've failed to trace her father. She had two sibs born in S Wales 1880 &85. Unfound 1881 1891 all in Pendeen, mother widowed.

@gnome_alice @SimonLeggX My uncle in Canada was contacted by descendant cousins building forward trees across the globe. I have the history bug so think first of long distance time travel. If your folks went back in Morvah likely knew who it was is buried 4 parishes rock. Why are the GGs 'uncertain'?

@penwithwriter @SimonLeggX Well I haven't dug deep,but most of my mother's maternal ancestors, of whom I am certain, were in Morvah and Pendeen from mid-C19. but both gt-grandfathers uncertain. I know less of her paternal line,but at least a couple of generations in W half of Cornwall

@gnome_alice @SimonLeggX Do you know whether your mother's family goes back many generations in Cornwall or moved here? There was quite a lot of migration within UK - and those who returned sometimes brought families with them!

@SimonLeggX @penwithwriter Mine are a mixture. My granny stayed put but her great grandfather, great-uncle, father,uncle, brother, cousins, husband,brother-in-law were all part of the great migration and went to Lancashire, Wales, Michigan, Ontario, South and West Africa. But most of them came back.
