the only ones mad at this are the cheaters
Riot Games@riotgames

Well, that escalated quickly. There’s been a wave of claims by cheaters about Vanguard “bricking” their PCs, so let’s clear that up: Vanguard does not damage hardware or disable your devices. The photo we posted is a picture of cheat hardware devices that are sold explicitly for cheating in VALORANT (not normal PCs or PC components). Through our latest updates, Vanguard now makes those devices worthless for VAL, but does not in any way brick PCs or PC components or PC software. Our latest update enforces standard platform security features, like the Input-Output Memory Management Unit (IOMMU), on accounts identified as using Direct Memory Access (DMA) cheating devices. These protections are already part of modern systems and when enabled, they block DMA cheat devices (such as those shown in the photo) from accessing memory in downstream applications, like our games. If a cheat setup continues attempting to cheat after those protections are enabled, the system may generate hardware faults or instability. This is expected behavior under IOMMU when attempts are made to read protected memory. Disabling IOMMU allows the cheat device to function again, but IOMMU will still be required to play our games. This means the cheat device won’t work with our games, but your PC isn’t “bricked.” We would not, and cannot, impact your PC’s functionality in any other fashion. This functionality only applies to systems attempting to use DMA cheat devices, and players who are not using DMA-based cheat setups are not affected. We’ll keep investing in anti-cheat to protect competitive integrity, and we’ll keep being as transparent as possible about how those systems work.

This is completely correct, using these 'Detailed individual metrics' to judge a player without additonal context is a joke It's a huge self report that you don't understand league of legends if you do this Stats are a tool and are so often misused in the most incompetent ways
Gen.G Arnold@arnoldwh

I want to say something about Kiin, because I want to be direct with our fanbase about how I feel. They published the selection criteria. Read them for yourself, because they matter. After the achievement-based shortlist, the final roster came down to what they themselves called "detailed individual metrics." If you understand the game, look at that list and ask one question: what does a top laner do to make most of those numbers go up? He gets the favorable matchup. He gets the comfort pick. He gets resources funneled into his lane. Solo kills, DPM, DPG, gold diff at 14, CS diff at 14, every one of those climbs when the draft is built around you, and sinks when you give the lane up so a teammate can have theirs. Now ask what Kiin does. Kiin is the top laner who says "draft around everyone else and give me the leftover pick, I'll make it work." He takes the counterpick so a teammate gets comfort. He eats the hard matchup so the map opens elsewhere. Every one of those choices is a teammate's DPM going up instead of his. He trades his stat line for his team's win condition, every single game. There's no column on that list for that. The closest it comes to team value, gold share, damage share, still rewards the player who gets the resources, not the one who gives them up. And champion pool size is right there on the list: a metric that should favor exactly the kind of flexible player Kiin is. He plays one of the widest, most selfless pools in the role and still didn't make it. And before anyone runs with this: this is not about Zeus. Zeus is world-class and earned his spot. The players aren't the problem. The measuring stick is. We need to more rigorously test the statistics we cite, especially when it becomes a measuring stick that can impact decisions like these. If your criteria are built mostly from individual mechanical stats without proper statistical context, you haven't found the best players, you've found the players whose teams were built to make them look best. Kiin plays the game the right way. If these metrics say otherwise, the metrics are the problem, not Kiin, and not the players who were picked. To Kiin's fans: you already know this. You watched him do it. Please show him more support than ever.

@CuratorRex @ahri_ell @AuxCasts most geng fans aren't even fighting those who think oner >>> canyon so idk why you're preaching to me. yeah zeus is great, but the criteria is still ass and cherry picked and there's conflict of interest w/ hle as spnsor. bdd is also much better and consistent than zeka btw

@perfectchovy @ahri_ell @AuxCasts Nothing stopping geng also from sponsoring them lol. If there are 10 sponsors they'll select 10 players? Why even select canyon from geng? Oner is much better for all the same reasons people would say kiin > zeus. They all are capable of being rep and any sealed can be disputed.

@CuratorRex @ahri_ell @AuxCasts the solution is to build a better selection criteria and not invalidate the 2nd most impt of the yr there's ways around this if they were really interested in being fair. but they prefer their cherry picked stats to favor their main sponsor

@perfectchovy @ahri_ell @AuxCasts Not necessarily, someone on a worse team but being a better player shouldn't be cut out from selection because of 2 team qualification tournament. Atleast an acceptable line is worlds since it has 4 teams instead. And ofc can give % weightage to the different comps.

@AuxCasts @perfectchovy i've seen it being speculated on korean forums that its because it might limit the pool of players that can be selected since in the last few years only T1 and GenG attended so it favors the players that have played on those rosters. thoughts ?
