i dont think its that, i think people put their trust in these people because mcyts act ‘woke’ but then in reality they arent? so why would the blame be on the watchers who rightfully assume that these people are as ‘woke’ just like they present themselves to be?

i think 90% of mcyttwt controversies boil down to people having absolutely no idea how the adult world works. which is like completely fine. mcyttwt is full of teenagers so i don’t expect everyone to have all the nuance for these topics. but it does get a little bit frustrating

it’s helpful to remember that while we can want our celebrities to reflect our views and values we will only know one part of them. i don’t know if they donate to politicians i dislike i don’t know their true beliefs and itll save you a lot of grief if you accept this
