then again, modern black christianity has been at the forefront of social change in the form of groups like the sclc. black churches aren’t perfect but they represent community and resistance and have been integral to progress in civil rights

however, practices in modern black christianity are largely a result of the restricted and altered version of the bible that white enslavers provided to enslaved africans that kept them subjugated and ignorant.

christianity was literally a defining feature of northern africa before it was even popular in europe. the africans that were captured and enslaved continued and adapted their christianity in the states.
