@Reekopant @pervyweirdo @animegirl3773 This is how I feel as well. Its also much easier to ask someone mean to be a little nicer than it is to ask a mentally ill freak not to change the game/culture. The "hateful, bigoted" people usually tend to not be as hateful or bigoted as people say either.

One reason people seek out niche media is specifically to avoid generic mainstream slop. I do not want things to cater to everybody because most people have shit taste. I want the things I like to continue catering to me - that's why I like them in the first place.

@Reekopant @animegirl3773 @woodyboye I personally would rather not invite hateful people into fandoms I like. I think either way, dealing with antis or dealing with bigots, you will be harassed. So I suppose it's a lose lose scenario in that case.

@pervyweirdo @woodyboye Because that doesn't work. They don't follow fandom etiquette. It's not that they're ignorant of it - they simply don't care. They see it as protecting bad people because they see proshippers as literal criminals, why wouldn't they harass criminals?

If I need to be a "hateful, bigoted, transphobic nazi" to keep it safe, then feel free to call me that. I know im not, and the people that matter do as well.

@animegirl3773 I suppose I just don't understand the point of taking it as far as to use racial slurs and being transphobic. People joining fandoms anyways just seems kinda inevitable at this point. Change itself is inevitable. So what's the point of making yourself seem like a hateful person?

@pervyweirdo It's not about keeping it to one's self but wanting to protect it from change at all costs. "All costs" includes "at the expense of my reputation". I know I am not a Nazi. If people need to think I'm a Nazi to prevent them from changing what I like, then call me Hitler.

@Sugary_Carousel I feel like too many people think being kind = being weak or passive. You can be kind while still asserting boundaries and standing up for yourself. It's like having a civil discussion and knowing when to tap out vs screaming and beating the shit outta someone lol
