It’s the fact that even if the Mets get swept by the Rockies today (getting closer to that reality unless they can flip the script game 3), I can’t sit here and confidently tell you all change is coming
I’ve been preaching for change for weeks now, and the organization has continued to sit on their hands
I will continue to preach it until it comes to fruition, because this is all around unacceptable
From the early roster construction to the malpractice in how certain injuries have went, to the daily blunders made fundamentally, this club is all around bad and they need a jolt to right this ship somewhat

10-game losing streak thoughts: The lack of emotional connection we have to players on this Mets team is hard to ignore. I mean, shit. I want to win more than anything. But if they’re gonna keep losing like this, and the fan favorites are gone, then what are we even left with?

Something currently off about the Mets is their retention rate — why players are choosing to leave. Why some never gave the Mets a chance to match — another waived their no-trade — there’s something off. Marcus Semien should be a leader. Alex Bregman would be, as well.

As Mets are currently constructed, can’t say it would make sense for them to trade for a one-year rental like Tarik Skubal or Freddy Peralta
Maybe that changes, depending on how they attempt to fill their many empty spots

One last thought (I promise): To be fair, as others have said, Diaz may well have been merely playing Mets and had eyes only for Dodgers. But even then it's also fair to wonder if Stearns could have kept Diaz by acting aggressively weeks ago. Maybe he just can't bear to overpay.

Another possible explanation re Diaz: spoke to well-connected baseball person tonight who swears Stearns was just fine finishing 2nd for Diaz because he's convinced Williams will return to Milwaukee form for Mets, likes the value of the contract, and has money to supplement pen.
