Your purpose has been clear from the very start, and it has never been about personal gain. This is about ensuring no other family has to endure the agony of waiting so long to bring their loved one home from the water. My nephew was taken by the water just a few months ago. He was only fifteen. As his auntie, I clung to the desperate hope that he might have swum to an island, that somehow he was still alive. The emergency services were incredible and recovered him within twenty-four hours, yet nothing prepares you for that moment. The grief is indescribable unless you’ve lived it. We have the small comfort of being able to lay him to rest, but the loss has shattered something inside me that I know will never fully heal. Life has never felt the same since. Your mission, though painfully difficult at times, is to restore and rebuild public trust in the very services that families like mine depend on. I’m truly sorry that you’ve been forced into such an uncomfortable position to do so, but I admire the grace, dignity, and resolve with which you’re handling it. That’s exactly why I’ve started this Change campaign this can’t be buried in quiet rooms and closed reviews. c.org/NbwT5g5ZDx We’ve had too many cover-ups. This goes right to the top of policing: if public trust is ever coming back, we need leaders with backbone, not people terrified of the truth and focused on promotion.

Facts aren’t about egos—they’re about honouring Nicola, sparing future families pain, and keeping professionals honest. Dismissing clear sonar hits in still images while ignoring the full footage isn’t scrutiny; it’s a stitch-up. Families deserve truth. Professionals like @peter_faulding deserve fairness. The public deserves lessons that save lives—not cover-ups that cost them.

Thank you, I do understand how powerful some of the people and institutions involved are. But I’m not on my own in this. There are some very powerful and highly respected people on my side who also want this exposed and properly examined. They’ve underestimated how determined I am to see this through. I have the evidence, strong legal support, and I’ll keep pushing calmly and lawfully for as long as it takes.

@peter_faulding Unfortunately you won't succeed, although I do wish you the very best, you're going up against very powerful people. The Mets corruption in keeping cases such as this silenced is a deep & dark swamp that no one can drain.

You’re right that defamation normally has a 1-year limit and only exceptional cases go beyond that. All I can say is that there are other legal routes being looked at as well – including data-protection / inaccurate personal data in the report and wider procedural issues. I’ve instructed a very experienced London firm to review everything and I’ll be following their advice. I won’t be commenting further on the legal side for now.

@peter_faulding Thanks Peter, regarding High court, reading this, there's a 1 year time period in which a defamation claim must be made, only in exceptional circumstances would exceptions be made. Im sure u have ur own legal advisors, so do u think this would fall as exceptional circumstances?
