@Merridew__ my favorite is an account that calls itself "The Long View" who really buys into the 12th dimensional chess point of view and is somewhat infuriating to follow

@jdcmedlock Prop 13 really needs to be attacked to try and help resolve this mess

@mnolangray Is there an easy way to repeal prop 13 that doesn’t result in home owners getting a sudden one time step up in property tax? Like a gradual step up over years or something similar?
English

I think it's this mechanism, and not any alleged changes to local government incentives, that are why Proposition 13 turned California into a NIMBY paradise. mnolangray.substack.com/p/how-proposit…

This is why property taxes are the best tax. They nudge homeowners to think in a more nuanced way about housing costs.

the american people seem to think that, roughly, housing shouldn't be an asset *unless you live in the house*, in which case it's your god given right that it appreciate in value

“The structure of this deal will allow NBCUniversal and Warner Bros. Discovery to be spun out, separate from Comcast, which will allow Comcast, no longer encumbered by media assets, to more easily merge either with Charter, which is the other major large cable company in the United States, or potentially even a wireless company.”

“Comcast is a legitimate bidder for HBO and the Warner Bros. studio. I think Comcast needs to do a major deal of significance. Peacock continues to lose money. Comcast shares have been in the tank now for quite a while. The long-term future of Comcast, I think, is probably a world where Comcast tries to merge with Charter.” @sherman4949

@QuietProsperity @ShitFund As a basket there’s a few Apartment reits almost at 5%

@ShitFund P.S. U.S REIT's were yielding ~10% in 09' versus ~3.5% today. But good luck on the "valuation discount".

@0xMerridew Women’s tennis if the favorite loses the first set you there is a fairly consistent bounce back trade there. Same for men in Grand Slams if they lose the first set. Also money to be made in football (soccer) betting against the draw when priced correctly
English

@QuietProsperity Oh 100% - I was just wondering your thoughts on the product, I use their global one which I think has changed ticker three times for some reason but it’s a nice catch all to drop spare cash when I’m between ideas

@petersfield Also important to remember that ETFs are typically designed to scale and have large AUM so they have some constraints on what they can own and/or manage the portfolio.
But hard to beat good businesses bought at decent prices over long periods =)
