Water heater died last night. 5 yrs old, still under warranty. Called Manufacturer, they said they'd send parts, but that'd be 4-6 days. Couldn't leave my family without hot water that long. So I called local repair company, they'd been there 5 minutes when they quoted me $1,100 to fix it. Wouldn't break it down to parts and labor until I leaned on them hard. - $300 parts - $800 labor For 30-40 minutes of work. For a water heater that cost me $700 with sales tax. I called the manufacturer back and told them the situation and that I planned on buying a new unit at The Home Depot and install it myself (I'd installed my current one). Rheem said no problem, take your old one with you and we'll give you full credit towards your new one. With the military discount from my buddy that was helping me, I was out of pocket a whole $65 when it was all said and done, and even traded up a model with a longer warranty. Thank you Rheem, thank you Home Depot. Fuck off predatory appliance repair companies.

Get experience and start black listing bad warehouses. Become a regular customer at a specific diner and befriend the staff.

People don't realize Driving a truck sucks. You spend 90% of your time away from home on the road by yourself. It costs a lot of money living on the road. It's very difficult if not impossible to eat healthy. If your lucky you can stop and shower once every 4 - 5 days. You brush your teeth with a water bottle standing next to your truck in a parking lot. Everyone treats you like you are a low life. Companies treat you like you're a number. When you start you time clock when you leave your home and stop when you get back home. You're lucky if your making $1.00 an hour. Let's not even get into the stress from driving all day every day with everyone cutting you off and road raging you because your truck only goes so fast. Without trucks their wouldn't be anything in the stores. TRUCK DRIVERS ARE ONE OF THE UNSUNG HEROS IN AMERICA! So if you see a truck driver today, please thank them!

@realEstateTrent I love how people think they can give a low ball offer after asking to buy something not for sale. Offer me something 20 percent over market price and I may bring it up over dinner. Market price or lower and you just called me up to insulted me. Go pound sand.

It happens countless times a day in America. A broker cold-calls a property owner to see if they’d be interested in selling, and they get the most nonsensical answer possible: “Sure, bring me an offer.” When the broker asks for more information about the property, they get an even more nonsensical response: “No, I’m not giving you anything. You said you work with buyers, so bring an offer.” Now, it takes a pretty extreme level of unsophistication to take this position. Anyone who has even minimal common sense understands that the same property could be worth $5M or $10M, depending on what the leases say. If the building is 40,000 square feet and the rent is $1M a year, which would be market, it could be worth $20M. If the seller gave the tenant a 20-year lease at $300k with no increases, and a 10-year flat option, the same exact building could be worth $4M. If you really are serious about selling, then you need to be serious about sharing some basic information if you want a real offer. If you are so naive about real estate that you don’t understand this simple concept, maybe you’re naive enough to sell your property for much less than it’s worth. In which case, maybe we should bring you that offer after all…
