🚨 Today, we have released a new nationwide study that highlights the urgent need for a reformed education system that better supports, listens to, and includes young people. The alarming data reveals the extent to which students, particularly those most vulnerable, are struggling to feel they belong and are supported in UK schools: ▪️ Nearly 1 in 5 (17%) young people say that school or college is a place where they don’t feel safe or welcome; rising to 28% for students with Special Educational Needs ▪️ Over 1 in 5 (22%) young people say their experience at school or college has negatively affected their mental health and wellbeing ▪️ 2 in 5 (41%) young people say their school or college hasn’t listened to their worries or wellbeing concerns This research, based on comprehensive representative surveys of students and parents across the UK, shows that schools need support to adapt and place student voice and wellbeing at the heart of the education system.
