@InHumaneShape @EODHappyCaptain @WDE2011 Some of that is very likely related to obesity. Unhealthy body equals unhealthy brain. Unhealthy brain likely, on the margin, gives you lower test scores; unhealthy brain increases likelihood of mental health diagnosis.

@pgklee @EODHappyCaptain @WDE2011 having worked in recruiting I can assure you that obesity is not the problem (especially now that you can tell the kid to just get on ozempic and come back in six months) the problems are low ASVAB scores, mental health diagnoses, criminal history, and physicals—in that order

@femmuses Not a foul. The ball was within him playing distance so it’s a fair charge. That said women with a different hip to shoulder ratio than men usually make those charges look more aggressive. It’s much easier for men to run somebody off the ball with their shoulder.

@NWSL I always makes me sad that they spent all those years trying to make her outside back. She’s got box to box skills that match anyone in the game, however she was never a great deep defender, which mattered against quality opposition.

@PoeShayFTBL @FootyFilmzz I don’t think they have goal line tech in the league. Don’t see the refs with a huge watches. If you don’t have goal line tech spend the extra $500 and bring back end line AR’s. These can be semi retired officials. They don’t have to move much. Touchline AR’s are not in position.

It’s also the realization that every player isn’t the same. That as a coach Your standard method isn’t gonna work for everybody. You need to adjust. And then for whatever reason it’s still might not work and you need to move on hopefully being able to find another coaching option for that player.

Most players get this wrong for years. They follow a trainer who posts incredible content. Flashy sessions. Big names in the caption. And they assume that's what development looks like. It isn't. I trained Alex Morgan for 12 years. Not 12 sessions. Not 12 months. Twelve years. From the Beverly Hills field sessions in 2012, through World Cups, Olympics, pregnancies, comebacks, and everything in between. What made that work wasn't the drills. It was the accumulated knowledge of one player's game, built rep by rep, season by season, until I knew her tendencies better than most coaches who'd worked with her directly. And she knew I did. That's the difference between a trainer and a developer. A trainer shows up, runs a session, and posts the clip. A developer shows up, studies the player, identifies the specific gap, builds a plan, and comes back next week to see if it transferred to the game. Then the week after. Then the year after. The viral clip gets the attention. The relationship gets the result. I see parents spend thousands chasing the trainer with the biggest following. I understand it. The content looks good. The players in the videos look good. But ask one question: how long have they worked with any of those players? If the answer is one session, or a camp, or a week, that's a highlight reel. Not a development program. Real development is unglamorous. It's the same session done 50 times because the player needs 50 repetitions before it shows up in a game under pressure. It's the debrief after a bad performance, not just the celebration after a good one. It's being honest with a player when she's avoiding her weakness instead of letting her stay comfortable. If you are a player or a parent looking for genuine development, the question to ask is not how popular is this person. The question is how long have they stayed with any player, and what happened to that player over time. The proof is in the long game. It always has been.

@EODHappyCaptain @WDE2011 The problem really is obesity, get everybody back to the typical BMI of an 18 year-old in 1980 and you’re probably up to 50% of the population being eligible for service

Augusta is flush with money but to push that other major league franchises can’t (when we get to see their revenue every year published) offer lower prices is a strange flex.. No beer at any establishment should be $15-20.. The mark up on that is insane… Why do they do it? Because consumers (myself included) are dumb enough to pay it..
Dan Wolken@DanWolken

They can charge those prices because Augusta National is already richer than most countries and every year they get good brand cred due to posts like this. (They’re also making it back times ten at the merch store)

Sonia Bompastor unsurprisingly frustrated with the disallowed Buurman goal. Says its "not good enough" and wants women's football to "bring the best" officials for these games, and "competence".....

@DougMcfarlane59 @KathrynBatte That’s because you’re starting with a tiny pool of referees, none of them are in the top 100 referees in Europe. Maybe one or two of them are in the top 250. It’s Women’s Champions (players) League not women’s officiating league.

@KathrynBatte I think it was probably ruled out because she scored off her arm. That wasn’t the ref’s original call, but you’re not gonna send the ref to the monitor to overrule a foul and not give the goal for a handball.

@FootyFilmzz That’s a foul by the keeper. Should’ve been a penalty of course Buchanan should not have been on the field because after the foul, she assaulted the keeper with violent conduct.

@TomJGarry Looks like she scored off her arm. She was holding down the Arsenal player was as much a foul as Blackstenius on Buchanan earlier in the match. Do you want them to negate the foul and then still call off the goal for a handball? That’s said This ref is putrid.

@ChelseaFCW 1. It was as much of a foul as Blackstenius earlier on Buchanan. No one has seemed to have a problem with that. 2. Also looked like it came off her arm. I guess you could rule no foul, but you can’t score off your arm. VAR didn’t bother correcting only to rule out handball.

Kylian Mbappe’s knee injury was misdiagnosed after Real Madrid medical staff performed an MRI scan on the wrong leg back in December. When no problem was found after a scan of his uninjured right knee, the 27-year-old featured in three games for Madrid before the mistake was realised and rectified. @pgklee @taramckeOWNED I don’t see them stopping the yellow on transition plays. Fans want goals so league wants goals. Allowing the tactical fouls from behind in transition will massively depress goal counts.
