Some four years into the making, with 630 bars of music written running to 32 1/2 mins, a project has just hit the 80% mark & at last feels within reach of being done. I must return to finishing editing an Elgar vol. —but it feels so close. #JustALittleLonger #NewMusic #Composing

@RichardBratby True, but these seem to crop up only rarely by comparison, and they certainly don't have a dedicated programme, as film music does.
English

@pgl_fecit Exactly the same as all incidental music, ballet music, theatre scores etc from the renaissance to the present day. Some works in concert, some doesn't. I've never understood why film scores alone get singled out, as if this problem is unique to that specific medium.

I am immensely grateful to have become one of the latest in the long line of composers to have been supported by @VWFndn over the last 70 years. They have v.kindly awarded me a grant for the release of the debut recording of my music, on @resonusclassics, due out 6th November.

A fascinating find in @oxfam #Norwich
And an unexpected outing for the young #GeorgeMckayBrown, who brings much needed freshness and originality

I have great reservations about social media, but have followed a trend to leap across to BlueSky to see how things fare there. I'm at philiplancaster.bsky.social, should any be interested.

Greetings! I've let Twitter slip & am never sure whether or not to be posting, even if time allows. The muddle of life and a great conflict with how much technology & social media impinges & imposes. But to abandon it breaks a connection with many lovely people... #SocialQuandary

I knew these woods very well growing up in this corner of Lichfield; a time when very few visited them, being then fully fenced off. Part of the woods found their way into my poem ‘Sonata’ a few years ago. Lovely to see and hear them in this brief, captured moment.

@LichfieldLore Ah, lovely to see and hear this — thank you for posting! I miss those woods greatly, and the trundle round Pipe Green, now that I am in Devon. I managed a dawn wander through the woods earlier in the year, though, on a brief return visit.

@MattCann4 @DavidJDavies3 @Torbaysingers As did I enjoy what was my second! Thank you, Matt, and thanks to all involved for a wonderful performance, not to mention the very warm welcome!

I thoroughly enjoyed my first Brahms Req last night in this beautiful church with @DavidJDavies3 @pgl_fecit and Cat Luke, and of course @Torbaysingers who sang fantastically!
