I really wish more Americans were aware that the USPS is the only service - the ONLY one - that can reach every home in the country. All other services rely on them for "last mile" deliveries that these other (more expensive!) services refuse (or can't) deliver to!

I was at a party with a bunch of hedge funders (don't ask) and they were all talking about how good ChatGPT is at writing for them, as long as they take out all the em-dashes. I had to explain to them that human beings who know how to write know how to use em-dashes properly, and we also know how to spot their incorrect usage. The em-dashes themselves aren't the problem.
Bob Wachter@Bob_Wachter

I've used em-dashes my whole life — they add rhythm and grace to writing. But now they're an AI tell. Can we get a grandfather clause for those of us who were fluent in em-dashes before ChatGPT launched in November 2022?

@MaxFagin @phalanx @SpaceAbhi No not on a plane. Max it all happened the same day you met Andy at the office and he was impressed with your very very large excel spreadsheet that can figure out any space mission. Moments before you met we showed him the ZBLAN payload one room over.

@phalanx @SpaceAbhi Hold on! When I worked at Made In Space, someone (Mike/Jason?) told me that Andy sat next to one of them on a plane and coaxed it out that we were working on ZBLAN *before* Artemis was even written. We must get to the bottom of this immediately. @ImJasonDunn

@FXRegan @AllThingsNatSec Yeah, but the fissile material retrieval mission is the context in which this is being discussed, not more “normal” special operations like we’d expect in an active theater.

@phalanx @AllThingsNatSec I never implied that would be their mission. There’s a lot they could do short of that we’d never hear about.

@FXRegan @AllThingsNatSec The Abbottabad mission is a fraction of what would be required to secure, locate, and extract Iranian weapons-grade fissile material, which is what is being talked about. There would be nothing stealthy or fast about it.

@AllThingsNatSec A lot has changed since Desert One. Just ask Bin Laden's relatives. There may already be special operators in Iran. If not, and they go in in the future, you'll probably never know it.

Everyone is buzzing about the Moon! This month’s featured image is a breathtaking view from the Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter: the western wall of an unnamed lunar crater glowing in morning sunlight, casting long, dramatic shadows across the surface: go.nasa.gov/46RqxIa

This is a smart move. More missions means a more capable workforce which will contribute to the success of the program. Flying too infrequently increases risk. This is exciting and will keep America ahead in human space exploration.

NASA will increase the cadence of the Artemis missions to successfully return humans to the Moon and sustain a lunar presence. Artemis III will test systems in low Earth orbit to prepare for an Artemis IV Moon landing in 2028. go.nasa.gov/4aGEGua

@marsjoe I’m sure those will come right after the USG gets clawbacks for overruns on the cost-plus contracts that have been going since I was in grad school.
