📝 New Paper! 📝 We expanded on the perceptual oscillations found across the stride-cycle by comparing central and peripheral vision. Spoiler: There are phase and amplitude differences. Check it out! doi.org/10.1093/pnasne… Authors: me, @matt_j_davidson, and David Alais

Anyone at @ecvp_ , come see my poster today at No. 3. It presents the work Alessia Tonelli and I have done on the double flash illusion in people whilst they walk.

Direct your gaze at this or put it into your periphery, really depends if you are walking. We found that the oscillation of visual detection ability during walking has phasic difference between centre and periphery. See our preprint at: doi.org/10.1101/2024.0…

A. Contact the German police and make a report, which I highly doubt will help B. Wait for @aohostels at Vienna to contact me with good news. C. Wait for the person who has my bag to use the @FlixBus bag tag details to either send it to me or email me. D. Any suggestions? 4/4

Turns out because I am overly cautious and hold my IDs and important documents/devices within arms reach, none of the items are valid to use Consular Services for. So my options are limited: 3/n

I cannot come back the next day in person because my bus back to Ulm was in 2 hours. Found out the online stolen property report can only be filled out by an Austrian resident. So I checked if I could fill it out via the Australian Consular Services Charter. 2/n

Back again with another terrible update: My duffel bag was taken from the @aohostels at Vienna Hbf (Wien Hbf). In my attempt to report it to @LPDWien, they reject saying the system is down for maintenance and to come back the next day. 1/n

@matt_j_davidson @Airbnb Thanks Matt, just wanted to talk to someone in that stressful time. I will take you up on that offer at a later time though. Currently feeling quite calm despite the situation.

It's been a week since I arrived in Ulm, Germany. I initially wanted to make a post about it, but I have been having to deal with a lot of issues with my @Airbnb accommodation. 1/n

Update: @Airbnb did something. They cancelled my stay (Woo! No more terrible accom!), but they gave me a partial refund that was partially actual money and a coupon, which really does not help. Anyways, no accomodation in Ulm now, which means I will probably head back home.

Of course, I would appreciate people who aren't chatbots or spambots (I know that's not likely on here). 3/3

How might our everyday actions change perception? Out today @NatureComms we show that walking rhythmically modulates how sensitive we are to the environment. The latest from my final days as a postdoc with @DAVElab at @UsydPsych OA paper: rdcu.be/dAAgE 🧵 1/7
