As community #pharmacies take on an increasingly critical role in Canada’s healthcare system, it is essential that the federal government collaborates with them to support their growth and sustainability without hindering their ability to serve Canadians. /4

This policy risks discouraging investment, dissuading Canadians from starting or expanding small pharmacy businesses, and undermining the sector’s long-term success. Ultimately, such measures could limit patients’ access to medications and reduce services in their communities. /3

Nearly 60% of pharmacies across Canada are independently owned small businesses, many of which operate as professional corporations. The previously announced increase in the capital gains tax inclusion rate to 66% poses significant challenges to the pharmacy sector. /2

We are encouraged by yesterday's announcement from @PierrePoilievre, Leader of the Official Opposition, committing to reverse the federal government’s changes to capital gains taxes under a @CPC_HQ government. /1
