@gregallenRTE I raced in Lausanne and Bislett on a few occasions. Both outstanding meetings in super stadia. I think having an established elite meeting like those helps athletics development in those countries and attracts 💰💰 for the local athletes who otherwise struggle financially.

Have travelled much of Europe’s great athletic venues. Many like Lausanne,Bislett,Stade Charlety in Paris,Amsterdam & Zurich (just ones I’ve visited) are small 10-30,000 max capacity. Oh to have even an 8000-10,000 state of art oval seated athletic stadium….anywhere in Ireland…

I realise I am subject to significant recency and sprint biases and Sonia, Ronnie et al were incredible but we have always produced individual freaks of nature. To have 4 homegrown women run legs under 50 secs on average in the final of the Olympics is the stuff of fantasy.

We've had some special runs in Irish athletics over the years - Sonia, the walkers, Derval, John Treacy, the 80s middle distance lads, Ronnie Delaney - but that run by the Irish relays girls could be the most incredible of them all. 3:19 for 4th in Olympic final is mind boggling

And that performance has to be up there with the best Irish team performance by any team in any sport ever. 4th in the Olympics in an event that is widely practiced in nearly every country in the world. Well done ladies, you did Ireland proud!

Also have to acknowledge how significant this run was. Shows the state of Irish male sprinting at the moment that this is not the main story!

What an fantastic series of runs by @IsraelOlatunde5 at the Europeans. Congrats on the Irish record but more importantly on showing you can mix it with the best when it matters most!

Watching the 60m from European Indoors bringing back memories. Hard to believe it's 14 years since I made the final in Birmingham...! Really kickstarted a few good years for me.

A big thank you to frontline staff from @DubFireBrigade and @AmbulanceNAS who assisted in getting my wife to hospital asap yesterday evening after a pregnancy complication. A healthy baby boy is the best possible outcome, and mum doing great!

@ESBNetworks Power outage in The Coast, Baldoyle. Heard neighbours alarms go off at the same time so suspect it's not just our house.

@marcus_lawler Good stuff Marcus. You have become very consistent. Usually a sign you are due to drop a big run.
