‘You’d look prettier without glasses’ ‘Your glutes need work’ ‘Why are you wearing gloves?’ Not that any of these comments are worth an explanation but they are all things I’ve been embarrassed or insecure about. My eyesight is +6.5 so I can only wear contacts for a few hours. I’ve had 4 knee/ hamstring operations so am limited with the lower body training I can do but I work around it. I have raynauds- which can get pretty painful so yeah I wear gloves sometimes even when it doesn’t seem that cold. Maybe it’s because I’m turning 40 this year, or maybe I’ve just hit a level of confidence that I don’t care about any of these things anymore. It has made me very aware though of the impact of my own words- the impact a simple comment can have on someone. So with that in mind- have the confidence to say the nice compliment to a friend, or even someone you don’t know- it might just make their day!
