Standing 12 feet tall in the middle of Manhattan is a bronze statue of a Black woman - hands on hips, braided hair, rocking a simple tee and pants - and we’re obsessed with the quiet power she holds. 💫 Titled ‘Grounded in the Stars’, and made by British artist Thomas J Price, the sculpture was created to reflect the everyday woman. Someone you might pass on the street, someone real. And it’s a powerful contrast to the monuments of white men just steps away. 👣 Of course, as with anything that challenges outdated ideas of who deserves to be seen, it’s sparked… mixed reactions.
